SNOOP ORIGINAL: Read Snoop Lion's 'No Guns Allowed' Essay (EXCLUSIVE)
The BoomBox ^ | April 23, 2013 | Snoop Lion

Posted on 04/27/2013 3:44:37 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

As I write this, my television screen is full of violent and disturbing images from last week's Boston Marathon bombing.

These images of heartbreak, fear, and panic have become way too common and so have the cases of individuals committing senseless acts of violence and parents losing their innocent children.

Right now feels like the right time for us all to come together to stop the violence, which is why I started the "No Guns Allowed" movement.

Growing up in the streets of Long Beach, I've seen the devastation that comes from gun violence firsthand... Homies dead or put in jail at an age way too young. The tragedies that have hit so close to home for many Americans over the last year inspired me to write a song advocating gun responsibility across the board.

The song "No Guns Allowed" is a call to action for people everywhere to come together and help end the senseless gun violence that claims lives every day. I'm not saying I'm against guns, but I'm saying that people need to think about their actions and be responsible for them. It tears my heart to see these people shooting up schools and public places and innocent people becoming victims for no damn reason!

A song like this has to come from the heart, and for me, the message is particularly powerful because I am a father. A lot of the people pulling the trigger haven't lived long enough to experience a long life full of love, but I know there's still time for them to walk in the path of peace.....

No, I don't think this is satire.

Okay, Snoop, you first. ...and your”homies.”

Those that beat their swords into plowshares will do the plowing for those that don’t.

Wasn’t Snoop a “Crip?” He’s just now seeing “Gun Violence?”

Hey, Snoopster! I will keep my firearms so I can protect my family, my friends and myself from your little bunch of goblins.

Sorry Snoop, dogs don’t grow up to be lions. They just become old dogs. And I seriously doubt you are learning a new trick.

Why should we care what someone who uses the name Snoop Lion thinks?

Wasn’t there a thread about him bribing the police chief with drugs to look the other way while he had a drug party?

I guess he doesn't see the irony that his music glorified the criminal lifestyle that led to this violence. (and for the record, I like his music, especially the early stuff- probably the only freeper who does). He is preaching taking away guns from law abiding citizens but has done nothing to speak against the criminal culture. If Snoop Lion had his way, the grandmother in South Central would be barred from owning a gun to protect herself but the criminals would still be running wild with theirs. Oh wait, that is exactly what we have in LA now.

And a pimp, and a drug dealer....rollin down the street sippin on gin and juice...and glorifying the criminal lifestyle..

He should address the glorification of crime he helped create before he goes after law abiding citizens ability to protect themselves from criminals like what he was.

Growing up in the streets of Long Beach, I've seen the devastation that comes from uneducated thugs, gangsters, so-called 'hip-hop' culture and broken families.

It is amazing what some people will pay money to see and hear.

This guy was 12 before he could tie his shoes and he still doesn’t know how to wear his pants.

Good intentions, I guess, but so out o’ the loop and behind the learning curve re: the real issues surrounding this debate, that it reads like a contradiction in terms.
Still, all these years I never expected SNOOP to be able to string even one sentence together with a second sentence, and it looks like he’s done it here, unless he had a ghost writer. Good work, considering he’s stoned 24/7.

Just saw your two sentences observation.
You noticed also.
BTW-—just saw and met a REAL musician, Wynton Marsalis, last night at Lincoln Center, do an entire 2 hours o* Duke Ellington’s music, with his Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. Amazing.Wynton’s mission is to bring this music to everyone, starting with kids. Rap and hip hop wouldn’t have a chance,
but alas.....we know how it’s turning out.

Maybe it’s not the guns and being part of a culture that should be confined to a petri dish? Too much of a concept for these totalitarian freedom grabbers to make sense of?
