The Good Guys Are Not Coming To Save Us
Zero Hedge (originally published at Free Man's Perspective) ^ | April 23, 2013 | Paul Rosenberg

A lot of Americans know that the US government is out of control. Anyone who has cared enough to study the US Constitution even a little knows this. Still, very few of these people are taking any significant action, and largely because of one error: They are waiting for “the good guys” to show up and fix things.

Washington is an unfettered beast. The system will NOT fix itself.

DC will never right the ship. We need another captain and crew to do that.

Anyone remotely in tune to actual truthful news who has a brain not polluted with MSM lies or so totally invested in the sloth of complete government subsistance of such can see what is coming. It is real, it is there, and it is inevitable.

I can only surmise that greed, sloth, complete uncaring willfull ignorance coupled with a deep abiding hatred for this country by some are to blame.

I really don’t see a way to recover from this. We are too far gone, in my opinion.

IMO our only chance of salvation is a calamity that necessitates a reset. Most likely it will come in the form of an economic crash, but many other disastrous possibilities abound.

The problem is that Dems, Pubs, Libs and Cons are all part of the problem so it’s unclear how anyone or anything will effect the needed change.

There’s going to be some real hurt first.
Economist and politicians built a model of the US to try to understand our great country. At some point along the way they (we) mistook the model for the the real thing. Fundamentals are fundamentals - productivity, saving, etc. - we’re already screwed.

I agree, both parties are failing us, but it is We the People that keep buying the BS.

Good article, however, every decent individual who dares to even comment on the perversion that is government is pounded from all sides - media scum, governmental scum, parasitic societial scum - which makes it difficult to even get the message out to enough people to rally support. Although people like Rush, Beck , Levin and others could begin the process of rallying the “troops”, they never suggest for anything more than calling the very same representatives that are driving the abuse. No... I would say that we are utterly and completely screwed.

Don't forget the salesman in this equation....the news media.

I agree. I think most think it isn’t really THAT bad. The pendelum will swing back, etc.

I am not giving up fighting. I will continue to do all the “right” things...vote for the lessor of two evils...yadda...yadda...

However, I am also a realist. I do not see a way out. I think the Low Information Voters will win out initially. We will have open borders and the progressives will have their day, but it will be a short lived victory. The muslims will slit their throats and America will be gone.

Seriously, someone please tell me how this will be prevented!

We will not have a civil war.

I think we are currently stuck in a national funk, predefined to fail for 8 years.

There is NO WAY Obama was not going to be president. The GOP even went all-out to guarantee that.

We do however have a chance to turn this around. America is only in this mess for 3 1/2 more years.

Granted that is a long time, but we’re more than halfway through this nightmare.

Just saying, it is not hopeless.

Start by bringing back American jobs.

Now.

The only way to save us is to divide the country in two. Liberals and conservatives have reached the point of hatred with no middle ground. There is noway this country can be saved as it is.

*********
We may well be beyond the point at which a message, no matter how logical, reasonable, or steeped in the lessons of history it is, can alter our course. The lookouts on the ship can warn of approaching shoals but the ship of state is sailing directly into the hazard. This will not end well.

Well we have no message, until we start bringing back US jobs.

THAT is the message we have ignored all these years.

US JOBS.

When I hear people say “You’ve got to see the Grand Canyon at least once” I am, unfortunately, prone to responding “You’ve got to drive a loop around the DC Beltway soon. You will be simultaneously laughing, crying and shaking with rage and frustration when you finish.”

All news outlets love the beauty shots of the monuments and marble buildings in DC and Mary Miller in suburban Indianapolis with her Coexist sticker thinks that the business of government is contained within those edifices. But the Beltway is where the DC action truly is - an unending expanse of hulking office blocks and gilded palaces. Some are ostensibly private-sector concerns but all are lavishly funded by you and me.

Media reports regularly cite the “booming DC economy” without a hint of irony or comment about why and how it’s expanding.

Anyone who beholds the New Rome can only shake his head when senators and bureaucrats moan about any potential downsizing. GOP congressmen, with rare exceptions, don’t want these offices closed either - they just want to become the new landlord.

Agreed. However at this point, I would prefer that we start toward moving toward the end...

The advent of the Internet with Social Interaction sites, forum sites, etc. has become part of the solution but also part of the problem ... Nearly instant Internet communications has allowed us to become painfully aware of current events, the abuses of the obama Administration and the Dems, the uselessness of the Republican Party, the sloth of Government Bureauracy ... Thus we come alarmed... we rant and rave, we even work to elect some great hope who will rescue us. But on the flip side the vast majority of us sit at home safely and DO NOTHING but type ... And that is the problem. Sitting behind a computer and spreading the word helps - helps a lot ... BUT it is FAR FROM A SOLUTUION ... Unless we get off our chairs - out of the offices and on to the streets - NOTHING will happen. Pontificating on FR or FB is not solving the problem - not even close. I posted this link yesterday on another FR thread ... I hope it can be part of the sobering up process. But I just don’t know if there is any real chance of any real action from the masses... It reminds me of a line out of the movie Sophie’s Choice... Her boyfriend sadly laments “Sophie sure likes to say F_(K but she can’t do it”...

Liberal ideology is simply incompatible with personal liberty, individual self-reliance, and responsible government. How can you reconcile or co-exist with an ideology that is diametrically opposed to everything you believe in?

I’m wondering if there will at some (breaking) point come a time when certain states decide to institute a form of virtual secession (i.e., refuse to go along with reckless and destructive federal bullying).
