Ratings: Fox Number One In All Cable, MSNBC Collapses
Breitbart's Big Journalism ^ | April 23, 2013 | John Nolte

Posted on 04/24/2013 8:39:07 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

In all of cable, not just cable news, Fox News was the most-watched channel throughout all of last week. During the Boston bombings and subsequent manhunt, the new "Most Trusted Name In News" averaged 2.874 million viewers during primetime, and 1.77 million in total day.

CNN came in a distant third with 1.985 million and 1.329 million respectively.

Because no one turns to left-wing talk radio when major news is breaking, MSNBC humiliated itself with a 19th place showing. Fewer than a million viewers tuned in in primetime, and fewer than 600,000 in total day.

This is not a small deal, either. Once upon a time CNN was America's news outlet when major news broke. Even as Fox has overtaken CNN in recent years, that dynamic would flip during major news events. Obviously, that is no longer the case....

So center-right (and sometimes center-left) television sells better than far-left and ultra far-left television? Who knew?

And that’s after driving conservative viewers away. Lesson here is how badly the left-wing cable news channels are doing.

Actually some stellar reporting and journalistic fact filled articles are superior from the U.K. compared to the modern US tabloid trash that passes off as news.

If they were smart, they would operate 24 hours a day.

There was a big delay during the bombers shootout and capture where no cable outlet was reporting anything. We, here, were listening to various scanner feeds and geting local reports and relaying them to the FR.

BBC News, when I watched twice this week 1. Blamed capitalism for the recession and sovereign debt crisis. 2. Called North Korea a “right wing state”.

Double FAIL

I wish talk radio hosts would stop playing clips from "Tingles" show ...local access tv ratings beats that network

Perhaps viewers were not amused at John King's "dark skinned men" EXCLUSIVE.

Why would anyone want to listen to idiots blather when “real” news is breaking?

Fox news needs to realize that they have the football now and run with it, they should really wake up and get rid of the idiots it has like Beckel, Colmes and Juan Williams. Just go with what has been working for you, FOX. No one is tuning in to hear what any of your house libs have to say, really.

It’s high time to reshape the news into the real truth even if it hurts some peoples ‘feelings’.

I’m in the Boston area and watched the local ABC affiliate,Channel 5.

Why?

No split screen, that’s why. What a pleasure.

Retire O’Reilly and give Gutfeld that time slot. Send Shep to CNN or MSNBC.

That surprised me also. You would have thought they would all have anchors ready to go 24/7 for major news, not just a “on call” anchor.

“If they take CNN out of airports they would catch msnbc”
____________________________________________________

Wiring airports was the foundation for CNN.
I remember seeing their headquarters in an Atlanta office building back in the early 90s.
I assume that they still own all of the airport equipment.
I use to see Drudge list the network ratings, but no longer.
I remember CNN was always at the bottom, even below PMSNBC.
FOX out-rated both of them combined.
My satellite service has only FOX and Aljazera.
I have never seen MSNBC, and CNN only when in a US airport, over ten years ago.

When there is a big story, I switch between CNN and fox and Internet.
