About 100 feet from the end of the 26.2-mile Boston Marathon, explosions shook the street and sent runners frantically racing for cover. The marathon finish line, normally a festive area of celebration and exhaustion, was suddenly like a war zone.
These runners just finished and they dont have legs now, said Roupen Bastajian, 35, a Rhode Island state trooper and former Marine. So many of them. There are so many people without legs. Its all blood. Theres blood everywhere. You got bones, fragments. Its disgusting.
Had Mr. Bastajian run a few strides slower, as he did in 2011, he might have been among the dozens of victims wounded in Mondays bomb blasts. Instead, he was among the runners treating other runners, a makeshift emergency medical service of exhausted athletes....

This is the worst description I’ve read. Those who are critical and serious must be the ones without a leg or legs. A lot of blood can be lost fast in such an injury. And, if a femur (thigh bone) was blown apart or broken, the femoral artery that is near the femur could easily have been torn and then the patient bleeds to death quickly.
“sports place violence”.
The only politically correct profile is that of a fat white guy wearing a wife beater tank top.
FBI is searching apartment in Revere, MA.
In other words, FBI is “planting AR-15 in the apartment.”
The runners are without legs? Unless a lot of people quit early and stood in the crowd to watch the finish, I don’t see how the runners were especially affected.
Here's the weirdest picture. His clothes are shredded, but he's still ambulatory.
Heartfelt prayers for those injured.....
Glass shards will do that.
I was watching the ABC and CBS talking heads saying that it appeared from the TV feed that the injuries were minor. Meanwhile on Free Republic and Bleacher Report I saw postings that said there were many limbs that were blown off. It was maybe 10-15 minutes later before I saw the network talking heads say that people near the blasts had lost legs. I literally couldn’t keep up with the new postings on Free Republic. They were coming in faster than I could read them.
I hadn't thought of that. But the amazing thing is that glass shards did only that much to the guy.
Oh, I would bet he’s not hearing too much lately. Likely he was in a crowd and someone was between him and the blast to some extent. The way he’s walking, I would also guess he has glass embedded in his clothes and perhaps in his back or in the shirt under his arms.
I thought the same thing. Very strange.
Also the man without the legs. Everyone just seemed to walk by him without helping him. Someone finally did of course but I bet he is one of the people who died, sadly. You could see he was in shock as they were trying push him in the wheel chair. I don’t see how he could have survived.
Shrapnel.
I had seen that picture earlier today and it also jumped out to me. This man is very lucky, and even with luck I am not sure how he managed to be close enough to the blast for his clothes to get properly shredded, yet still far enough not to get any noticeable injuries. I would expect to see some major bleeding, and, considering that he was close enough for his shirt and pants to be ripped, significant internal injuries from the shock wave that should have definitely prevented locomotion. A really weird picture.
Several of the victims in the uncensored photos have similar shredding. It looks like most of the force of the blast was directed horizontally at ground level.
I bet Obama’s buds in the Muslim Brotherhood are extremely happy right about now.
Obama is sad because he’ll have to curtail tomorrow nights COCKTAIL Party!
If there were people everywhere missing a leg there would be a lot more than 3 dead.
