As the Senate prepares to begin debate next week on the biggest gun-control bill in nearly two decades, the gun rights lobby and its Senate allies are working on a series of amendments that could have the opposite effect — loosening many of the restrictions that exist in current law.
Most worrisome to those who advocate new gun limits is an expected amendment that would achieve one of the National Rifle Association’s biggest goals: a “national reciprocity” arrangement, in which a gun owner who receives a permit to carry a concealed weapon in any one state would then be allowed to do that anywhere in the country. Other pro-gun proposals would make it easier for dealers to sell their merchandise between states or let certain people who had been treated for mental illness regain the right to buy weapons.
The freewheeling Senate chamber has always been a place where legislation can take an abrupt detour. But rarely has there been so much potential for unpredictable turns as on gun legislation, where allegiances break down not along party lines, but along regional ones and an urban-rural divide. ...WaPo
We're not talking only about some slimy deal from Republicans. We're talking about Democratic senators, a list of six. Enough to lead the Senate backwards into trouble. Mind you, that trouble is destined for the rest of us. These guys spend most of their time in a cocoon -- a well-protected government-defended building.
Keep an eye on the amendment process. And watch for this in particular:

No, not true.
Universal reciprocity still means you have to follow the rules of the state you’re in. A whole lotta people are going to get in a lot of trouble when they think they can act their usual way anywhere.
And reciprocity won’t mean much when they are tracking you and pulling licences ASAP for every conceivable reason.
Not worth the risk. We already have a Second Amendment that the far left fringe ignores. I have no faith at all that leftists would honor a national reciprocity clause in a federal law either. Obama won’t sign this without a major infringement on our God-given rights, and it’s not worth trading a promise of respecting some rights for giving up others and allowing universal background checks that would lead to de facto registration. That’s like the mistake Israel makes when they trade real land for insincere promises of peace. We cannot trust the far left because lying to gain more power is a virtue in their view of the world.
The perfect poison pill to knock out Feinstein and her gungrabbers.

Some amendments that might turn some minds:
Voter id.
No fees on applicants.
That’s what concerns me. Fees and taxes for “background checks” and registration is going to disenfranchise the minorities and po folks who don’t have the money to pay for them.
Not if they ram through the newest 'bipartisan immigration reform bill' as fast as they can.
Senator Schumer’s recent declaration that ‘First, people will be legalized… Then, we will make sure the border is secure,’.....

There was a time in the history of this nation when a man could travel across it, armed in plain view, day or night, and not fear molestaion by man or beast other than from those who would threaten him and justify his being armed in the first place. When I am able to traverse the same ground, coast-to-coast, on the road to everywhere, without being molested by armed uniformed members of law enforcement simply to satisfy their curiousity, then I will know liberty is on the comeback trail.

Would Feinstein & her gun grabbers support a “gun control” bill that includes an amendment mandating CCW reciprocity in all states, and for gun sellers as well? No. How would they stop it? They could hardly start screaming about the 10th Amendment, they don’t believe in it. What’s left? They’d be forced to vote against “gun control”. Is it any wonder that Schumer calls it “the most pernicious” proposal under consideration.

Don’t be too eager for reciprocity. If it is applies to one thing it can be applied to another such as, say, gay marriage...
“You are willing to sell the farm,...” You can plainly see where banging the gums has gotten us and I wouldn’t be the first one to walk to and then stand on a line. I wouldn’t be the first to pay a price for doing it either. If we had walked a tight line in the guardianship of our rights we would not need to engage in remedial actions today. When I think of the lives lost to preserve what we had in the past, and I reflect on that loss daily while witnessing the abominations committed by our supposed representatives and executive politicians, I stand a little straighter and walk a tighter line.
When I was a lad my brother and I went for a ten-mile hike in the Berkshire mountains in west-central Massachusetts. In a .30 cal ammo can we carried our lunch, hygiene items and a Kabar knife which belonged to our father. One mile outside of town we were stopped by a policeman who queried us regarding our intentions that morning to satisfy his curiosity. Seeing the knife in the ammo can he asked why I had it to which I replied to protect ourselves if need be. “Have a good hike boys” was his reply and he was gone. Today I would be hauled in on suspicion of being a threat to society and sentenced to hard time with assorted miscreants.
I live in Arizona and I thank God I live in a state that recognizes the Constitutional right to carry openly or concealed. There are a few restrictions which, with further efforts, will fall by the wayside and be relegated to the dustbin of collectivist inspired history. As it stands I can walk the road well-travelled in this state, border to border, through city and town, much as our forefathers did as I mentioned. Liberty will be served when that degree of reciprocity reigns. Common sense and the knowledge of what once was is all that is necessary to reclaim what we had. All we need are a few good men with firm resolve not to accept abuse of our rights and a clear, uncorrupted vision of the future. Yeah. I’m a romantic. But I can dream can’t I?
