I was feeling restless and decided to experiment in the garden today. There’s still snow on the ground in places, but I’m itching to plant, so I made my own wall-o-water.
Cut the bottom off a 20oz plastic bottle and remove the lid. Cut the top and bottom off a larger bottle or milk jug. Place the small bottle over the seedling (well, in this case it was a tomato cutting from my indoor tomato vine), set the larger bottle around the smaller one and anchor it well. Then, fill the space between with plastic baggies full of water.
I have friends who swear by their wall-o-waters, but every time I see them in the store they’re always more than I can spare. We’ll see if my improvised version works. If it doesn’t, I can always snip a few more tomato cuttings.

That’s a good idea. Let me know how that works. I looked at some on Amazon but it would be a lot of money to do that for each seed.
