These men cowards made it their MO to just attack/rob women because they are weaker. It just makes my blood boil to hear a story like this. Shoot to kill the cowardly bastards.
I don't think good men understand the anxiety of possible attack women deal with when they leave their house. Even if a woman has a carry permit, she has a much higher possibility of being attacked than a man does.
Well said, Marcella. Let me add two thoughts, please:
1. Having a gun does very, very little to change the odds on being attacked. Keeping and bearing arms on a daily basis does, indeed, change one's attitude and encourage most of us to improve our awareness of our surroundings; most criminals, however, aren't skilled enough at victim selection to spot the differences. Having a gun makes all the difference in the world after the fact of an attack, of course, but doesn't do much to prevent attacks.
2. Statistically speaking, there's at least a 20% an American woman will suffer a serious sexual assault at some point in her life: rape or attempted rape, not being patted on the bottom by a high chool class mate at the swimming pool. If we, the people understood what the odds actually are, there'd be no such thing as leftist extremist so-called "gun control" on the national agenda, because millions upon millions more of us would be carrying guns.
I never once asked a concealed carry student why he or she was taking the (unfortunately state-required) class: none of my business, and I've never been the nosy kind, anyway; that said, more than a few of my women students took me aside to explain why they wanted the permit. I heard some truly horrendous stories.
At least two thirds of my students were men. At least 80% of all students were middle-aged or old. Where were the women, who are much more likely to need to defend themselves than men? Where were the young people? I can't tell you more than this: accepting responsibility for one's life and safety seems to be difficult for lots of people.
