ATF Seeks 'Massive' Database of Personal Info: 'Assets, Relatives, Associates and More'
CNS News ^

Posted on 04/06/2013 6:25:16 PM PDT by Perdogg

A recent solicitation from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) reveals that the agency is seeking a "massive" online database capable of pulling up individuals' personal information, connections and associates.

On March 28, ATF posted the notice on FedBizOpps.gov, entitled "Investigative System." The solicitation was updated on April 5 with a few minor changes.

The document says that the system will be utilized by staff "to provide rapid searches on various entities for example; names, telephone numbers, utility data and reverse phone look-ups, as a means to assist with investigations, and background research on people, assets and businesses."

I was just watching Blue Thunder for the fist time since I saw it in 1983. The story is about Los Angeles justifying an armed military helicopter for "urban pacification" uses. It is amazing how a modest action picture that seemed well over the top as far as being possible in 1983, has over time become understated.

Also interesting is how Los Angeles is portrayed in 1983. The press was portrayed as defending civil liberties, the military was bad for pushing military hardware onto civilian police. Politicians were portrayed as incompetant bumblers, so no change there though.

I have run into ATF agents who were decent guys but the agency’s managers are intent on violating the Constitution

I heard at the close of WWII, some German troops and Nazis claimed to be decent guys and suddenly were talking lots of cheet about management when their pay checks stopped and their managers ran for the tall grass.

Documentation File on the harmful impact of the Counterculture of Obamanation on America.

___________________

Barry Soetoro, aka B. Hussein Obama, 5 days before the end of GWB Presidential term, said: “We are five days away from FUNDAMENTALLY TRANSFORMING THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!”

Going on 5 years now, the best friends that Obama could have had to help him achieve his above stated dastardly goal were the RINO leadership in the US House and Senate, AND THEY ARE STILL IN POWER!

_____________________

IMHO, the Counterculture of Obamanation will continue to destroy America for as long as the US Congressional RINOs allow it to, and not one minute more - - - - .

I was gonna say the same thing. Actually, you can find out all sorts of stuff about anyone on the internet. Well, except Obama, of course.

You might find some first term elected still not corrupted. But beyond that the rest are likely blackmailed into submission. They can't have certain criminal or immoral acts made public. There's also the Power aspect. Some are in office solely to hold power and they'll do anything to anybody to keep it or obtain it. True to Constitution and Country amongst our elected leaders are few and far between.

Amendment IV —

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

What freaking part of that don’t they understand???

In all seriousness, they probably have all of this information already on an old system, and they are looking for upgrades. If there is one agency that has proven over and over that they are bound to abuse such a system, it is BATF. They will probably use it to find more customers for their illegal gun schemes.

“Very Naziesque. I wonder what the DUmmies over at the DUmbster think of their “massas” now.”

Probably think it’s a pretty good idea. After all, the information will only be used against Christians, conservatives and libertarians.

“Just what they need to keep all those records which it is illegal for them to keep.”

Well, it’s for reasons of national security, terrorists, etc.,
or...”whatever”.

From an IT standpoint, I don’t know which is more fantazamorgical: this or nobamacare. Whole buncha contractors gonna make a whole buncha money on this. And in the end, after countless delays, budget overruns and missed deadlines, the end product will do maybe 40% of what was originally envisioned. ‘Course, you’ll never hear about that.

Yep - some of the DOD databases of a few hundred thousand to maybe a million records have taken a number of years to work out the bugs and they still run slow. Transferring the data from other sources would be a nightmare to get right. So many things to cause a lot of innocent people a lot of serious headaches.
