China has placed military forces on heightened alert in the northeastern part of the country as tensions mount on the Korean peninsula following recent threats by Pyongyang to attack, U.S. officials said.
Reports from the region reveal the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) recently increased its military posture in response to the heightened tensions, specifically North Korea’s declaration of a “state of war” and threats to conduct missile attacks against the United States and South Korea.
According to the officials, the PLA has stepped up military mobilization in the border region with North Korea since mid-March, including troop movements and warplane activity.
China’s navy also conducted live-firing naval drills by warships in the Yellow Sea.
North Korea, meanwhile, is mobilizing missile forces, including road-mobile short- and medium-range missiles, according to officials familiar with satellite imagery of missile bases.
The missile activity is believed to be North Korea’s response to the ongoing U.S.-South Korean military exercises.

If I was the chubby ruler of North Korea I would attack—with Obama in charge the USA will do nothing but symbolical gestures before running to the UN. A quick war—take the South Korean Capital and some land then go to the peace table. Target some bases where US troops are located—maybe in Japan as well. Try to sink a few US ships and the war will be over. If he loses some people—well good—he can feed his masses as it is. With China at his back, he will not be invaded. This is the best time to move—the US is distracted with gay Marriage, Dancing with the Stars, and the Gun Grab. We are broke and over extended as it is. It would be good for Obama too—he can give a few tough sounding speeches—be photographed with the troops. and gain all the popularity of a “war time” president. IF war comes (and that is a really big if) it will be short—two to three weeks at most. Then a two years peace talk and we get screwed once again.

At about the same time, General MacArthur proposed setting up an atomic perimeter at the Yalu River, which as it was crossed by the Chines troops, would inflict a fatal dose of radiation poisoning, causing them to falter and die as they reached the battlefields. This so enraged Harry Truman that he went on the national media and very publicly fired MacArthur on the spot.
Harry Truman had a history of a very troubled relationship with the US military, as he was gutting out the military capability of the US at the very time the Soviet threat was growing like an angry cancer. This confrontation with MacArthur just put it over the top, but Harry always claimed it was to preserve the civilian control of the military establishment.
We also had just lost China a couple of years earlier. It did not look good for the future of America.
