I hate spineless robo calls. I don't care if they are from the "government" or some "business."
If they haven't enough spine to have a human make the call and be told by whom ever answers the phone to"Bugger Off!" Then they are doing nothing but telephone harassment.
I love it when they call me, put me on hold to get a person. If you can’t bother having the human waiting while the number dials, don’t bother.
Are you saying, you like spam phone calls from real, breathing, stinking, belching, farting human creatures?
The longer you keep them on the line, the longer it takes them to move on to the next call.
the only part of that I like is being able to tell the to “Bugger Off.”
Fair enough. I too like to play games with them.
All calls to my land line go directly without even ringa-dinging to my trusty 8-track quadraphonic answering apparatus.
Our garage was broken into last summer and since then we get robo calls trying to sell us a burglar alarm. The first thing it says is: “Don’t hang up!” which is the first thing I do.
Whenever a junk call number comes up, I save it on my phone under a contact named “junk 2013-03”, etc and then assign it a ringer of a duck quacking.
That way when they call back, I hear the duck quack and don’t even bother looking at my phone.
Works great!
I got annoyed with them calling my iphone. since there is no way to call block them on an iPhone, that I’m aware of, I assign each one as a contact with a specific ringtone so I know it’s calling and ignore it. I also use the YouMail app to direct those calls to a spoofed voicemail message that replicates the disconnected number auto message. They dry up pretty quick that way. New ones still call on ocassion, and I simply execute the drill and they go away.
Of course, you and many other people get annoyed and refuse to play ball, so perhaps their business plan is shortsighted. Or not -- its probably still cheaper to use recordings even if X percent of people are turned off by it.
Hey, you want congress to do something useless like banning all unsolicited calls, enacting a spending limit along with a truly fair tax system, or something useful and productive like pushing gay marriage?
Oh, forgot, the useless stuff takes brains, and the latter takes...er...
I like to turn the weather radio on loud as it will go and let them hear the local forecast.
I forward all home calls to my cell phone. I installed Extreme Call Blocker on the cell and it has stopped hundreds of nuisance calls.
I have tried to find a “smart” phone for my land line, but haven’t come up with one. Anyone know of one that can
be programmed to stop anonymous and unknown caller id?
- Don't recognize the number? Don't pick up.
- If the caller thinks it's important, they'll leave a message, and you can decide whether it's important enough to merit a return call.
- Problem solved.
They’re probably the ones who broke in.
