Anti-Birther Dr. Conspiracy Says The Presidential Natural Born Citizen Clause Is No Longer Relevant

He is the arbiter of what is and is not relevant, I suppose. If it’s no longer relevant, why not amend the constitution? Because he knows such an amendment would have no chance, because the political consensus is that it is relevant?

Is the "natural-born" clause really no longer relevant? What would it be like if a non-American became President? Just for grins, I'm reposting a post of mine from September 16, 2010, from a thread on the Declaration of Independence:

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

Obama has refused to prosecute voting rights laws, immigration laws, income tax laws for his cronies, etc.

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

Obama is suing the state of Arizona to block them from enforcing their own state laws for complying with federal immigration laws.

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

During the campaign, Obama said that health care negotiations would be covered on C-SPAN. Over and over he said this. Finally, he relented to a single meeting with House and Senate members for one afternoon only, where he disrespectfully referred to them by first name and then spent the time lecturing them.

He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

Obama fired Inspector General Gerald Walpin for getting too close to the illegal actions of his supporters.
2013: Obama effectively dissolved Congress when he himself declared them to be in recess, and then made a series of so-called recess appointments of people who bypassed "advise and consent" oversight.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected, whereby the Legislative Powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.
He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

Obama's lawyers have been repeatedly arguing that We The People do not have standing in the Courts to question his Constitutional qualifications for office.

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.

Obama has created a shadow government of unappointed "czars," circumventing the confirmation process and oversight of Congress.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

Obama has tried to form his civilian national security force, which nobody is quite sure about its intended purpose.
2013: Now we know that Homeland Security has been buying up billions of rounds of hollow-tipped bullets, and buying military anti-mine vehicles for domestic use. They are also talking about armed drone strikes against Americans on American soil.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power.
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

2013: What about the threats from the Obama administration to take over the health care of any state that refuses to enact Obamacare exchanges?

For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

Obama ignored centuries of contract law in order to take control of the auto industry and bypass legal bond holders to give the assets to the Labor Unions.
2013: They are again talking about seizing hard-earned and long-saved IRA and 401(k) private retirement accounts.

For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.
He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

The response to the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico blocked early response. Obama refused international help, allowing the oil to reach our protected shorelines. Obama used the spill to stop drilling in the Gulf, putting thousands and thousands of people out of work.
2013: After attacking Bush on his response to Hurricane Katrina, Obama has failed to deliver on his response to Hurricane Sandy. Maybe the victims in Staten Island weren't "Holder's people?"

He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation, and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & Perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.

2013: While states are running out of money, Obama is sending billions of dollars in cash and millions of dollars in military equipment to our enemies in Libya, Syria, and Egypt, including al Qaeda terrorists who were responsible for destroying the World Trade Center in New York City.

He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.

2013: Has anybody seen or heard from the survivors of the attacks on Benghazi?

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

Do you consider Senator Santorum to be a natural born citizen?

Well, what are the particulars regarding citizenship with Mr. Santorum? He's never been in a position for natural born citizenship or the lack of it to have any bearing. Sure, he ran in the Republican primary, but apparently most any schlub with financial backing can do that these days.

Was he born in the United States, or elsewhere? If elsewhere, did any foreign sovereignty make a legal claim of jurisdiction over him due to having been born there?

What other routes are there, for a foreign sovereignty to make a legal claim of jurisdiction over Mr. Santorum? Were there any claims via descent, meaning through either of his parents? If so, was any such claim absolute, meaning Mr. Santorum was subject to the jurisdiction of a foreign sovereignty due circumstance of parentage?

Or, perhaps there was a generational offer of citizenship, with the jurisdiction that comes along with it, that required some sort of affirmative act? If so, was was such an offer ever affirmatively acted upon?

You see, it's really not so simple, as the State Department has confirmed for quite some time, likely as long as it has existed. It's not a matter of subjective opinion and it's not a matter that is resolved by emoting.

If some other legal system has it's hooks in him, he should not sit as President and in fact was precluded from doing so. If no other does, then he can.

Limiting voting to citizens.

Just a technical point: the Constitution does not explicitly limit voting to citizens, but every state has a law that makes American citizenship among the requirements for voting, and to the best of my knowledge, such a requirement has been present in every state since the country's founding.

Of course the Left has cheated and concocted various schemes in various states to attempt to violate such laws, because alien voting helps their cause.

my opinion is that the concerns that prompted the NBC clause are no longer relevant as our form or government is no longer novel, and that the US is now a powerful and wealthy nation.

That's the equivalent of saying:

We put the lock on the door because we were poor and didn't want anyone breaking in and stealing what little we had.

But now that we are rich with even more of value to lose we should take the lock off of the door.
