Im going to tell you a true story, but to protect my friends privacy and OPSECas all good preppers should doIm going to remain as anonymous as possible. Im telling you because I believe in helping people and I like to imagine a world after SHTF where we help each other rather than hinder each other, so here it goes
I recently had the opportunity to visit a friends bug-out property. What started out as a dream for land outside of the city for a nice get-away to keep animals and a shooting range turned into the perfect place to start a bug-out plan in motion.
Perhaps you feel that Preppers who do not wish to soley depend on the grid is a threat to your job security as an electrical engineer in the defense industry.
Roger that. I will say that what you’re talking about is quite a bit milder than the sudden societal collapse of a full blown SHTF scenario.
That’s noble. Good to recognize your calling.
Only to an MSNBC viewer and when there's a democrat in the White House.
Try going three days here in Maine without power and 30+below zero and see where that gets you without generators and/or Kerosene heaters and see what THAT gets you.
I also don't like the lecturing and the judgmentalism that we get from the prepper crowd. And I don't like having to step over a sick minded prepper article that fantasizes about my death every time someone bumps it to the top. And on top of that I think that prepping for SHTF is simply an unwise thing to do, because I think the risk of it is exceedingly small. I just think it's bad advice.
I think prepping in its hard core form is largely a mischanneled expression of frustration over the state of the country. It is not constructive, it saps constructive energies, and it provides an excuse for saying "to hell with it, let it burn" that in my opinion is simply not a good thing.
Yes, that’s why my general rule is that it’s smart to keep a few weeks of supplies on hand. I fully admit that the preppers have it right to that extent. It’s the SHTF stuff where they lose me.
well then, you're a prepper. So, if others feel they should store a year's worth of food, that's their perogotive.
Don't think for once that this nation cannot fall and it's NOT un-American to think that when you have an UN-American in the White House UN-Americanally supported by this generation of Americans.
I think we may actually see our troops around the world thumbing their way back home like the Soviet troops had to do after not receiving pay for several weeks and months.
Don't think for one moment that Social Security checks will continue to show up in mailboxes or the government will really guarantee that money you have in the bank.
It's actually quite selfish to only store 3 days worth of food if you have family members out there on Social Security that would not be able to eat if the checks ever stopped coming in.
Basically, the reason why those people who "wish you dead" are saving years worth of food is because they know that you are not and they know you will need to eat. They're doing it for you, buddy.
What you need to do is participate, unless there are no elderly folk in your family.
Hey, that’s pretty clever, FD. Even though I can avoid them, I guess I’d just rather not have prepper, uh, material, floating in the FR punchbowl.
Once upon a time we didn’t have prepper threads. Now they’re everywhere. Is it just because we’re feeling demoralized by Obama? Are prepper threads our escape?
No, he isn’t.
Kart is correct. Your contempt for those who prepare is palpable.
Fine. Don’t prep yourself. Nobody is forcing you to, but Kart has just as much right to advise people to prep as you do to advise people not to prep.
Whatever you label him for advising people to prep, you can be labeled for advising people to not prep.
And so how is a person being prepped going to hurt you?
I know for sure that those who are not prepped are going to be hurting others, because they will be competing with them for the limited food and water available, taking what someone else could need and use.
IOW, you non-preppers mare going to be part of the problem and not the solution in a worst case scenario. And this is what you’re encouraging them to be. You’re nothing but a useful idiot for the liberal takeover of this country by encouraging entitlement mentality.
I don't even want to ask where you stand on the 2nd Amendment
13. SHTF doesnt care that the pharmacies are closed because of a pandemic and that you have no OTC or herbal medicines at home if you catch the virus, you will suffer through it without medicine to treat it. And so will your kids.I used to order my prescription ahead of time so I'd have one bottle in reserve, but now, the pharmacies won't allow that. What does one do?
Well, then, stay off either the prepper threads or FR altogether. Nobody is forcing you to read Kart's threads.
Don’t let his toned down talk fool you this guys has something clearly not right about him. See his post #51 this thread. He’s talking softly now, but read his post you can see what he is at his core.
Everybody's gotta eat and when desperate they will do things they never thought they would do, from the small things such as drink ones own urine (just happened last week with a teen lost in the Maine woods) and if they have to they will kill innocent people who took the time to prepare and save enough food for such an event and yes even to the extreme (like in North Korea) eating their children to stay alive. These are real incidents happening everyday and only a microcosm of what could happen.
By the way, thanks for all the informative threads and the pings. I read them all and have learned a lot.
Exactly. And anyone who thinks they’re above that needs to think again...
Poor kid. He thinks the Preppers are out to kill him. Not to sound like a Geiko commercial but I wonder if he’s ever heard this song...
>>Hey, thats pretty clever, FD. Even though I can avoid them, I guess Id just rather not have prepper, uh, material, floating in the FR punchbowl.<<
The only thing I see floating in the FR punchbowl is YOU.
