The following is an excerpt from an essay from the Nuclear Counterarguments Essay Series. It is the definitive counterargument to those who feel the invasion of Iraq was based on deliberate deceptions manufactured by the Bush administration. Anyone who perseveres through to the end of its equivalent of 43 X 300-word pages will never again doubt the sincerity of President Bush's decision to invade Iraq. The essay series is written to liberals in the first person, but it is also for conservatives.
Perhaps no other issue heats a liberals pot up to boil more than the Iraq War. Bush lied thousands died! That has been the liberal groupthink mantra. No matter how successful the war has ultimately turned out, no liberal will ever accept that it has been worth the blood, money and loss of reputation to America at least until they read this essay. I realize, American neighbor, that you have been led to believe that the Bush administration lied about the prewar intelligence to encourage the American publics support for the invasion of Iraq. The orthodox media, Democrat politicians and the liberal blogosphere have hammered home this assertion for years. But what evidence have they ever presented that supports their case? Simply repeating the same assertions over and over is not evidence. [c5jkk] [1] Get this, American neighbor: It is a simple fact that the conclusions of multiple bipartisan government oversight reports, as well as considerable other evidence does not support the liberal groupthink mantra. The rationalization behind the derogatory Bush lied thousands died! is just another liberalism. Now we will clear up this issue once and for all welcome to the lonely funeral of the liberal mantra, Bush lied thousands died! More here.

The record is clear. The argument for the invasion was that Saddam *possessed* WMD. Present tense. Not that Saddam might, perhaps, someday in the future, maybe manufacture WMD....
If what you are saying is true -- that behind the scenes the judgement was that Saddam might not necessarily have any WMD at the moment -- then GWB lied to the American people and to the world community in justifying the invasion. In which case, he set himself up for certain failure, knowing he would never be able to produce any WMD.
The fact remains, GWB sold it as a necessity to disarm Saddam, and he found nothing in Iraq to substantiate his WMD claims. It was an epic failure that, as noted earlier in this thread, was very likely a contributing factor to our losses in 2006 and 2008.
The war was won cleanly....it was the aftermath that was the cluster-you-know-what.
Yes that was the politcal argument of the day. Bush didn’t lie. But there was much more to it than you know. Please just read the essay instead of arguing with me about issues clearly explian in it.
What article are you talking about? I clicked the link. It took me to a Web site where I clicked the link to the supposed article. It is one long paragraph. That’s it. The link preceding the paragraph takes me nowhere. And in the middle of the long paragraph is a citation link, which takes me to a blog.
WMD weapons were indeed found...but not in the huge quantities originally talked about. Two Senators, Santorum and what’s his face...can’t remember.sorry) held a press conference in June 2006 (?) in which they described how our forces had found over 500 shells of nerve gas. Old shells, but still capable of killing thousands.
Didn’t see more than a tiny paragraph here and there in the MSMedia...but you can still read/watch it online.
Right you are. The generals and the troops won the war cleanly, but Bush and Bremer completely FUBAR'ed the occupation.
And it's the occupation's effects that will matter most in the end.
Yes, I remember reading an article about that find right here on FR back then. And I remember thinking it was a somewhat anti-climatic find three full years after the Sturm und Drang build up to the 2003 invasion.
Your new link takes me to the same place as the previous one. Is this a joke? Why not just post the entire essay here?
By the way, thank me very much for all the hits I’ve given your site if you’re pimping.
I have tried it in both IE and Chrome and it works fine. Hundreds of other Freepers are visiting it. Maybe you have a cache problem. If you can get to my website home page http://deprogrammingliberalism.com/ the essay is #22.
How do you know this?
Website stats. It’s my essay, my website.
You know, of course, that it is in very poor taste to link a post back to your own website.
If you have something to share from your own website, just paste it all here.
Actually, it looks like you are turning out to be a common blogpimp.
Post it here and folks will read it.
Post it here.
And don't assume that you're the only one who isn't ignorant on the topic.
Please just post the whole thing here.
Nobody wants to visit your blog.
I wonder if a moderator could again remove "blogpimp" from the keywords list in this thread. Thank you.
Post your full content and save yourself some grief.
