Last Sunday, the first installment of History’s five-part miniseries The Bible beat everything on television with a massive 13.1 million viewers, making it cable’s most-watched entertainment telecast this year. For producer Mark Burnett, who worked on the ten-hour special with wife Roma Downey, the success of The Bible isn’t all that surprising. “It will be, over the next 40 or 50 years, the most watched thing that Roma and I have ever made,” he told EW, quite confidently, back in January.
At the time, Burnett gushed about shooting the series. “I really believe what I’m going to tell you right now,” he said. “The hand of God was on this…. the edit came together perfectly, the actors came together perfectly, it just comes to life.” But Burnett wasn’t just speaking about how well the practicalities of production had gone. “Weird things happened during filming,” he said. “Everybody would look at each other like, “Whoa.”

They could do a year long, every Sunday, 2 hour episode of the Holy Bible and STILL things would be left out or missed.
I was sceptical like you untill I had two Christian brothers of mine ask me how many people might just pick up the bible and start reading, or how many non believers might be curious enough to seek God based on this mini series. Basically, rebuking my negative aditude and reminding me that God is in charge of all things.

I was thinking the same thing.
The first episode had 13 million. The second went to 10 million. Maybe it will go up but most times shows have the best ratings the first episode. I think this is great that so many people are watching the Bible. I just wish the article was truthful and say that it was one of the highest shows of the week instead of a big fat bold lie saying it was the highest viewed of the week. Totally cheapens the entire story. We are always asking for accuracy in news articles unless it is one of “our” cherished article. I just hate that!!!
The date of the article is 3/6. Maybe it was most watched that weekend. There were 10.8 million viewers for episode 2.
Anyway, maybe you should consider switching to decaf.

Nope. Still was not the highest of the week even for week of 3/6. Decaf for pointing out lies in the article. How rich. I bet if they pointed out that gun violence kills 3 million a week, you would be having a hissy fit over the lies. I just would like some consistencies on what we find accurate. Just because we like the Bible miniseries shouldn’t cause us to accept outright lies!
You have to match cable to cable ~ without supplementing the numbers with broadcast.
The writer was quite clear that he was matching cable to cable ~ obviously you get more watchers for other stuff when you drop broadcast into the mix.
The story was about cable TV only ~ that’s what the writer says.
Absolutely. Something gets really close to the Bible and jas the potential of exposing millions who never set foot in a church and villified because they left a donkey out of scene. Really?
The donkeys have all been slaughtered and their hides sent to China.
Reading comprehension appears to be at issue as well, since none of the shows you're naming appeared in a competing time slot on a Sunday night, as far as I know.
So, napscoordinator, between the nitpicks, the four letter words and the criticism of any viewership ratings criteria utilized, it's evident that you just don't like this show.
I invite you to come clean. Why?

Kind of was into The Vikings and recording that but this thread got me to DVR The Bible...looking forward to it.

I hadn’t any idea who William Wallace was in history though I studied Brit history in college. Though Braveheart was completely inaccurate, I loved the movie so much, I read up on his history, the Battles of Falkirk and Sterling Bridge, etc. I now have an indepth knowledge of medieval Brit history that I never got in school.
