Some great points here.
AZ doesn’t have it because no one wants an extra hour of heat in a desert state. The Navajo Nation there is on DST, so keep it in mind when you enter the Indian reservation. :)
American Samoa, HI, the American VI and Puerto Rico do not observe DST again because of the extra heat in a subtropical climate.
Amazing! Extra hour of heat? Maybe we could change to a 22 hour long day and cure Global Warming.
When I first moved here, the way someone explained it to me was this: “We tried it and didn’t like the 10PM sunsets.”
Nixon’s fault. The moonbats derided the hell out of him for that. I think 50,000 or so kids were run over that winter by a school bus.
Good luck in Tuscon with that.
Tucson is another world. They have Dupnik for a Sheriff, should tell you all you need to know about how weird they are. I don’t think they have DST either.
They did when I was in the state.
get rid of DST altogether
instead:
change the clocks to 10 hour days, 100 minutes, 100 seconds. we need more logic in our world
also, why not simply put the whole planet on the same time zone.
why do we synchronize sunrise time, when we can synchronize the whole planet!
Railroads would never be on time.
Where you here when DST was forced down everybody's throat back in the '70's?
Interesting article on Benjamin Franklin’s earlier suggestion, initially somewhat in jest though providing calculations on savings from candles burned while sleeping when the sun was up earlier in the morning.

Having lived in Switzerland in a home with operable outside shutters to darken the rooms, I found his suggestion of fines for using such a bit interesting.
Yes, I have often traveled from the Eastern Time Zone to California and after 3 days I get used to the change. My body sees that the Sun, in the sky changed, and my body should change too. But, when we change the clock without changing the time that is when I get screwed up. There are some people like me who set their body clocks on the sun and some that don’t.
Heh. DST is such a pet peeve of mine that I missed the quip.
