The Ithaca Common Council knows that this is a step in the right direction as they passed a resolution unanimously Wednesday nightInteresting bit of bias on the part of the reporter there. "Knows" implies that opinion of the city council is fact, not opinion.
Being a liberal leaning city...
No, most cities are "liberal leaning." Ithaca is much worse than that. Ithaca is the City of Evil.

Ithaca gun company moved out of Ithaca, N.Y., didn’t they?

My, how time flies. I was stationed at NROTC, Cornell University 1976-1980. I purchased a really great Buick Electra 225 from the Ithaca Gun Company. I remember Ithaca as a very snobby place but the concerts at Barton Hall were fabulous!!!!!

My daughter was accepted at Cornell as an undergrad but turned them down for Stanford. If she goes there for grad school I’ll definitely buy her a t-shirt.

Would Ithaca be willing to practice what they preach and ensure that every home in their boundaries is a voluntarily gun-free home?

Oregon is not all liberals! Located in the small Oregon community of Cornelius, west of Portland and in the Tualatin Valley is the location of Senator Feinstein's worst dream. A company that manufactures weapons with a magazine capacity of 100 rounds!

I regard the Model 37 Ithaca to be the 56 T-Bird of shotguns. The Remington 570 is of course the 57 Chevy, but hell, this thread’s about....

Ithaca is a Liberal college town. It’s no wonder they are crazy. They would be more at home in Cambridge, Massachusetts, but there it is.
