Bob Woodward trolled us
The Daily Caller ^ | 3/28/13 | Matt K. Lewis

Posted on 02/28/2013 12:49:06 PM PST by Nachum

Twitter exploded last night, after Bob Woodward revealed that White House official had warned him he would “regret” saying Obama had moved the goal posts on sequestration.

Predictably, conservatives latched onto this, as it confirmed our suspicion about the Obama Administration’s “Chicago-style” of politics. A lot of mainstream journalists bought into this, too — reflexively believing anything the great Bob Woodward says.

Of course, Woodward (who was expert at trolling for publicity before the internet even existed), benefits greatly from the publicity (nothing sells books like controversy).

I’m a bit skeptical to believe either side on this but I’m not sure why people are quick to dismiss it based on an email. This administration is nasty...and magically this works out in the White House’s favor?

Well, it does matter, because the White House’s political strategy rests on blaming the Republicans for it.

As far as fixing the problem, it is the blame game, and the public’s reaction that will determine which side has to give in. If the public thinks the Republicans are being obstructionist and stopping a reasonable compromise solution, then the Republicans will have to cave and raise taxes again, or else lose the next election even worse than the last one.

If on the other hand, the public decides the White House is a bunch of liars who constantly move the goalposts to fit their whims, then it’s the Democrats who will surrender or face the wrath of the voters.

So you’re wrong, the blame game is the only game for the time being.

What is REALLY being lost is :
THE SEQUESTER WAS OBAMA’S IDEA.
(Woodward v. Sperling is the undercard.)

Bingo.

Sour grapes Matt?

No. Just a sensible analysis of the facts.

When I saw conservatives start to drool over Woodward, I suspected we were being played. He probably sold 10,000 books from people who wouldn't have considered it before his big "break" from the administration.

Not being an economist I am not sure what will happen, but even many republicans, including many Govenor’s, have said it will cost jobs and hurt the economy. Sandevol, Walker, Scott, Jindal, Kaisich, and others have expressed problems with the upcoming cuts and have stated it will hurt their individual state economies. So I will lean towards there opinions since it seems almost unanimous. With that being said as far as passing blame? Realistically both sides are culpable. It was a bi-partisan screw up. You know it I know it. Trying to win the PR battle is a pipe dream. Polling shows republicans are down some 15-20 points on the issue. Is the mainstream media driving the narrative? Well of course but complaining about that does not fix the problem. The country club republicans are complaining because defense contractors are going to be hurt. Should teachers, fireman and other essential services get cut small business takes a hit. Cuts need to happen but with a scalpel not a meat clever or the patient dies. Passing blame? I just not only believe republicans lose on the issue in looking at current polling but in the end there is enough blame for this to go around which is closer to the truth anyway. So what is a good compromise? 3-1? 5-1? 10-1? Or are we at the point no tax loopholes closed so no revenue allowed? If that is the case let it happen because that is what is best for the country? Most do not seem to believe that. I do not have the answers but I can spot the slow train wreck approaching.

Your failure to expose corruption in the Presidential Administrations that followed Nixon's cast serious doubt on your motivations.

What I find interesting is that this Woodward thing is what ends up as "news". The POSOTUS and his regime have generated multiple abominations per day for 4+ years, any one of them sufficient to send the criminals off to the big house, but the MSM has been wholly disinterested.

But then Woodward finds himself dissed by some White Hut lackey and whoo-boy, this admin is OUTTA control!

Maybe the irony is that this kind of nonsense will be what takes down the regime because the egotistical media appears to have a thinner skin than even Obama.

So everybody should just grow up and come up with a reasonable compromise and stop all the bickering. I guess we all feel that way a lot of the time, but wishing the world were like that does not make it be that way. Even when the end result IS a reasonable compromise, maybe the fiscal cliff compromise was something you liked, it’s still always a brutal slog to get there. We don’t reach the real brink on this sequester story until the 27th of this month, so until then be ready to be annoyed.
