So I guess we're left with the question are

- Homeland Security
- Teachers (really the DOE & bureaucracy)
worth the attendant
- Local first responders [fire, police, EMS] -- (wait, if they're local why should federal cuts impact them?)
- Border Patrol
- NASA
- Military readiness and preparedness

I would venture to say that the deal is worth it, especially when you consider things like the militarization of the police is fueled by federal monies, and things like "Homeland Security" (e.g. TSA) are nothing but a sustained assault (and population-conditioning) on liberties and constitutionally guaranteed rights.
