An elementary school principal in the Denver suburbs told parents that white children would be excluded from an after-school tutoring initiative.
Andre C. Pearson, the principal at Mission Viejo Elementary in Aurora, Colorado sent letters home to parents informing them that only students of color are eligible for the program, KJCT, the local ABC affiliate, reports.
Some shocked parents have alleged discrimination and segregation, reports CBS Denver.
“I was infuriated,” one parent, Nicole Cox, told CBS Denver. “I didn’t understand why they would include or exclude certain groups.”
“We have come so far in all of these years to show everybody that everyone is equal, that everyone should be treated equally,” Cox added.
Cox is white. She has a 10-year-old daughter at the school, and she wants her daughter to have tutoring.

I love stories that take the basic premise of affirmative action and apply it to a wider group than simply white males; once white females were denied seats in the tutoring the program would be amended.
Most colleges and employers have barriers to white men that are tolerated/encouraged by everyone else.

Bill and Melinda Gates are just as guilty. Their foundation has a college scholarship programs that is closed to whites. It is the multi-billion dollars Millennium Scholars program. Only available to non-whites. So if your family immigrated from Korea or Mexico four years ago you can get one

I’m reading about the Bill Gates Millennium Scholars and here are the “RACIAL” requirements
Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they:
• Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian and Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American;
• Are a citizen/legal permanent resident or nationals of the United States.
What about poor white children? Can you imagine if a Scholarship was created for white people “ONLY” and black people and Hispanics need not apply. I guess racial discrimination is only wrong when it’s happening to nonwhites.
The deadline for the 2010-2011 Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) application process was January 11, 2010.

Real simple solution, next time there is a school board election, every seat is overturned and let their replacements know exactly why and that it can happen again. Of course that takes parents that actually want to be involved.
