Hell no. The LAPD will kill the wrong person or persons and blow up their vehicle or home.
Let the LAPD take their chances with the b@st@rd. After all, we “civilians” certainly have to.

Should an armed drone be dispatched to kill Christopher Dorner?

What a stupidass question..........Let's create additional controversy since there's no other news to report on Dorner.

Just on the basis of cost alone, it strikes me as a ridiculous idea and, imo, anyone who launches a Hellfire in Dorner's direction owes the taxpayers $250,000, per, because isn't that how much a Hellfire missile costs?

Hellfires should be viewed strictly as a weapon of war, not to be used against common criminals for the same reason posse comitatus forbids using military personnel to enforce state law, even if some deluded common criminal declares that he is at war. In fact, it is not a war but a matter for law enforcement.

Otherwise, what might they do when a small group of taxpayers seize a port and dump tea in the harbor and police decide that the malcontents are so well dispersed in and around the facility that Hellfires won't work? Nuke the place?

I would expect that there is already a secret POTUS directive authorizing killer drones to be used in defense of VIPS including POTUS on US soil and that such drones are likely to be frequently flying cap over POTUS, possibly augmented by ARGUS.

Absolutely insane.

It's one thing to use it in a war zone. A completely different thing in a domestic police action.

We've already seen an extreme case of police incompetence here. What's next? Use a machine to remotely slaughter innocents who have been erroneously identified as suspects? Don't blame me, it was the drone?!?

Who put such idiots in charge of the courts and juries in matters of the law, life and death? They are as bad as dorner, IMHO.

They did NOT have positive ID on the innocents who they attempted to blow away in the past few days. So now they want to utilize a vehicle of war to do their dirty work?

Deploy the drones to monitor the officers in pursuit and video tape their actions to ensure they are executing the law, not innocent civilians.

An LAPD drone? Perhaps they will get him - after killing 20 innocent civilians.

Sure, I’ve been waiting 61 years for the US to become a certified police state.

You can’t put your hands in the air and surrender to a drone, can you?

Nope. Sentenced, sealed, delivered.

I hope he froze to death in the snow, but we can’t send drones after people.

This is a case of police hysteria, but think back to the DC sniper when ALL citizens, young and old and of all races were at risk. My sister used to frequent the Home Depot where a suburban woman got nailed.

The hysteria was so deep that I am sure that if killer drones had been available the public would have demanded that they be used to preemptively nail the DC sniper.

These days if there were to be another such homicidal maniac on the loose and armed drones WEREN’T used to go after him, there would be hell to pay for public officials now that the public has been extensively educated on the rationale for using them against foreign terrorists.

Many in congress have already demanded to know why killer drones weren’t over the mission in Libya and only an impotent unarmed drone was there.

IMO drones are like guns. They can be used to protect the weak and innocent or to kill the weak and innocent. Drones are here now and they aren’t going away.

In the same way that many in the public are asking why the Sandy Hook children weren’t protected with good guys with guns and many US schools are protected by officers with guns, after a few more episodes like this LAPD episode or the DC sniper, the public will soon conclude that they WANT to be protected by armed drones. Sad, but to be expected.
