Why should the lives of law enforcement agents be risked to apprehend this suspected domestic terrorist?
A major manhunt has been underway in the Los Angeles area for Chris Dorner, the former LAPD officer, Navy reservist, and trained marksman who is the prime suspect in the murder of three people, including the daughter of an LAPD captain (who previously represented him in a disciplinary proceeding) and her fiance. A lengthy Facebook message attributed to Dorner vows that he will continue to kill not only members of the LAPD but also their children and spouses until he receives a public apology for what he believes was his unfair firing:
"This will be a war of attrition . . . . I will utilize OSINT to discover your residences, spouses workplaces, and children's schools. IMINT to coordinate and plan attacks on your fixed locations. . . . HUMINT will be utilized to collect personal schedules of targets. I never had the opportunity to have a family of my own, I'm terminating yours. . . . I know your significant others routine, your children's best friends and recess. I know Your Sancha's gym hours and routine. I assure you that the casualty rate will be high."
Surveillance drones are now being used to try to locate him. LAPD are so apprehensive that they have already mistakenly shot at innocent people when they saw vehicles resembling the one they thought belonged to Dorner. Authorities suspect he's hiding in "the icy wilderness" of Big Bear east of Los Angeles which, reported AP, is "filled with thick forests and jagged peaks, that creates peril as much for Dorner as the officers hunting him."
Here's my question: if the surveillance drones detect his location, should the lives of law enforcement agents be risked, along with other civilians...

One way or the other, they won’t take him alive and give him a forum to talk about life inside the LAPD.
Yes, but only while FBHO is pinning the “Medal of Freedom” on him.
If the government uses a drone to kill Dorner then what’s next? Drone strikes on the next Waco compound? Drone strikes on the Hutaree or anyone else flying a Gadsden flag?
When I was born everyone sued to tremble at the thought of the Russians launching nukes at the USA and people would sometimes look up to the skies in times of crisis wondering if death was lurking over their heads.
Now the Soviets are gone and we’re going to have death lurking over our heads again?
But this time it won’t be the Soviets threatening to kill Americans in America...but our own government?
Fast forward (any period of time) to when anyone opposing The Won can be viewed the same way.
I guess in Obama’s U.S. trials are a thing of the past.
Certainly not until after Obama has gone on national television to appeal to his ardent supporter to turn himself in.
of course not.
The same people who propose an armed drone are against the death penalty.
No. It would just be the first of an ever expanding range of crimes they would punish from the air.

It probably already is — with no results to date — that we know of.
The LA cops that shot up the truck with two women were armed drones.
No.
Yeah, and when they end up with a body, if it’s the wrong guy they’ll tell us, won’t they?
No. I’m sorry he’s killed people, although it is by the grace of God that the LAPD’s “mistaken identity” kills don’t actually equal Dorner’s; but he is a common criminal and he’ll need to be apprehended and tried.
Holy smokes I hate to sound like a NY Times reading liberal, but we do have rights in this country and those legal protections are in place for the guilty as well as the innocent and those whose status is unclear at any given time.
My goodness, how bad would it be if this schm*ck becomes some kind of martyr?
OK, I propose a deal. They get to assassinate suspects without a trial if we get to hang politicians without a trial. Deal?
What a dumb question.
Of course not. We have due process.
Except for Ruby Ridge and Waco.
The only way to solve this problem would be to confiscate all the guns in the country. And knives. And gasoline. And rocks of a certain size. Gravity too cuz it kills people. Hands because they can be put around necks.
Hmm...
/sarcasm off - kinda...
He’ll be bin Laden-ed. No body. No witness. “Burial” without witness. But “we got him”.
It is being used to legitimize the use of drones.
“The same people who propose an armed drone are against the death penalty.”
