Yay!! MORE POOR DEMOCRAT VOTERS!
Anti-higher taxes activist Grover Norquist is joining an effort to convince conservatives to support statehood for Puerto Rico.
Norquist, the president of Americans for Tax Reform, is scheduled to appear at a press conference with Luis Fortuno, the former Republican governor of Puerto Rico, in Washington to push statehood for the territory next week.
The group organizing the effort is the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles.
The group of conservative leaders will call on Congress to pass legislation to allow the people of Puerto Rico to decide their political future among non-territorial and constitutionally valid options, according to a news release.
Others appearing at the conference include Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention.

What an ass he is — a donkey in disguise.
The Saudis must think it’s a good idea. What a jackass that Norquist guy is. Puerto Rico will have 2 permanent democrat senators who have a permanent chip on their shoulder about America.
It’ll be as bad as Hawaii.
Is this guy just plain nuts?
This is the same Puerto Rico that demanded Vieques Island training be ended. This critical training area was the final polish of deploying amphibious forces.
They couldn’t care less about how it hurt our Marines and sailors readiness.
We will get nothing of value from them, only a new burden, and a new trojan horse in our house.
I will no longer use the term RINO to describe these people. REPUBLICAN is exactly what they are.
No, he isn’t nuts. he is doing exactly what his Saudi and GOP establishment buddies want done. Exactly.
Good point. It’s our mistake to keep expecting republicans to be conservative. That was in New England and California,, 60 or 70 years ago.
Today they are a slightly relaxed version of progressive that actually enjoys minority status. The same pay and fun in DC, none of the blame, none of the burden of actually performing.
Actually, some may not remember that Newton Gingrich beat Norquist to the punch; he pushed for PR statehood as early as 1997.
Grover’s Casino....
Nutty as RP.
Oh wow. Do you think you’re slamming Newt Gingrich?
If you had read the article, you could have slammed Ronald Reagan.
How is that anti tax activism to support Puerto Rican paying taxes to the US government?
That’s only part of the story. PR is a net welfare state. Mainland taxpayers are propping up their economy. We ship more money to the island than it delivers in taxes. Moreover, they make little effort to learn English. It is a totally different culture. sd
Somebody’s got something on Grover.
Maybe we just need to work harder on integrating them. Marry them and raise their next generation. You know the left will be busy aborting theirs. Whoever the next generation is that survives abortion is going to run what’s left of the place.
I thought they have had numerous votes on becomming a state and have turned it down....am I wrong?
We visited PR over Christmas week and had fun on the beaches, cliffs, caves and other attractions. There are probably more English speakers in Mexico than in San Juan.
