Oh, its fun to pick on celebrities who dont know much about the issues on which theyre asked to pontificate and at least James Taylor has the honesty to preface his answer to The Daily Callers Nicholas Ballasy with an admission of ignorance. In fact, he does so twice, when Nicholas asks him about Obamas continuation of George Bushs drone policy and on the executive orders Obama promised on gun control (actually executive actions, most or all of which dont require actual EOs). At some point, its easy to feel a little sympathy for Taylor, who must be thinking that hed rather follow Laura Ingrahams advise to just shut up and sing.
Being a good sport, Taylor provides an answer which wont exactly endear him to anyone outside of Obamas orbit:

Addressing the issue of gun control, singer-songwriter James Taylor told The Daily Caller that Americans need to make some sacrifice[s] to our freedoms in order to keep children safe. Following his performance at President Obamas second inauguration, TheDC asked Taylor if he agreed with Obamas executive actions on gun control. I think the nation is very divided on gun control, Taylor told TheDC, but I think the majority of us feel strongly even the majority of gun owners feel strongly that we need to make some sacrifice[s] to our freedoms, if thats the way to put it. We need to make some sacrifices to what we might want to have, in order to safeguard our children.
Since Taylor admits to a rather significant level of ignorance on the topic, its not quite clear what he means on this...

You are correct, some "common sense" updating to that misguided amendment should also be up for discussion.
Is that true he is a bigger asshat than i could imagine
“Sacrifice a little liberty?”...
Never, Chuckle head!
“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety”.
Benjamin Franklin
My response to the “Assault Weapon” argument is this:
Assault is a Verb, not an Adjective; It takes a person, and a decision, to Assault another.
Well, using his addle-brained logic we need to shoot all known gangbangers on sight. They lose their right to breath in order to make it safer for everyone else.
How about that moron?
FUBO & FAD
You go first, James —
That made me noxious listening to him drool over Obama like that.
James Taylor believes that black people should be less free! If he believes it for all, then we can start segmenting their arguments!
“We” have to give up rights? Really? That’s the first I’d heard that Taylor was a firearms enthusiast. Oh, he isn’t? Then it’s “YOU have to give up rights,” isn’t it? No sale, Jimmy.
"But it's for the children!"
Excellent point, and one I will repeat to the appropriate people.
I grew to dislike James Taylor over the years. The last straw was some years ago when a girlfriend bought tickets to a Taylor concert and asked me to go. Taylor put on a pretty good show, except when he did "Fire and Rain", his best and most popular song-- he deliberately murdered it. To me it was proof that he was a childish, spiteful bastard.
“Lets give up automobiles. Public transportation is much safer.”
There were 200 deaths on the NYC subway last year (or 2011), we better just command people to live in their 200 square foot box and the government will send a delivery drone to bring us soylent green. You can pay them by riding an exercise bike to produce clean energy!
I agree and he may run for office. No thanks.
Taylor needs to stay with singing insomnia cures.
STFU, James.
This gun owner feels we have sufficient laws restricting guns and several should be repealed including state laws.
