Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman threatened Monday afternoon that he would file articles of impeachment against President Barack Obama if he institutes gun control measures with an executive order.
Stockman warned that such executive orders would be “unconstitutional” and “infringe on our constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms.”
“I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment,” Stockman said in a statement.
At his press conference Monday, Obama floated the possibility of using executive action to enact policies aimed at reducing gun violence.
The freshman congressman, who served one term in Congress in the mid-1990s, further labeled the possibility “an existential threat to this nation” because, he said, the purpose of the Second Amendment is to allow the people to protect themselves from tyranny.
“Any proposal to abuse executive power and infringe upon gun rights must be repelled with the stiffest legislative force possible,” he added. “Under no circumstances whatsoever may the government take any action that disarms any peaceable person — much less without due process through an executive declaration without a vote of Congress or a ruling of a court.”
He concluded by claiming that an executive order would be not just “not just an attack on the Constitution,” but also an “attack on Americans.”
“If the president is allowed to suspend constitutional rights on his own personal whims, our free republic has effectively ceased to exist,” he said.

Just initiating the process is a humiliation to him and ties up time in both the executive and legislative branches. Any time they spend screwing each other is time they can't spend screwing us. Plus, it runs the LSM all over the place covering for the bastard.
Even is they could impeach in the House, nothing would come of it in the Senate. Then what?
Infringement, yes, but not so drastic that the vast majority would want to call for impeachment, much less see blood spilled.
I think we are being Alinskied. The rhetoric has gotten so heated that the actual EOs will seem “reasonable”.
Remember, Bush the First EO’d a ban on firearms imports after Stockton. No impeachment followed, no washing the Tree of Liberty with the type O of tyrants.
I've been wrong plenty of times before (thought Zero was toast for re-election) but I'll be flabbergasted if there's anything close to confiscation coming this week in an EO. The anti-gun crowd will just continue to chip away, they won't go for all the marbles at once.
He did good during the Clinton and Reno years, but was booted out for being too right wing. Of course, He's my kinda congressman. Seems he didn't like Waco and the "Jack Booted Thugs".

Impeachments of the President are rare. We've only had two in the history of the Republic. And, unfortunately in both cases, the President escaped removal.
That means, an impeachment (requiring a mere majority of the House) is automatically newsworthy ... Question is, could the House GOP prosecute the action sufficiently well to sway public opinion (never mind achieving removal)? Or would they only succeed in blunting the instrument thru over use (third time in history ... MSM yawns ...)?

Gee. I guess the Left's message has finally reached your ears. The Silent Majority should just shut the hell up and never be heard from again...
By all means, impeachment should be used against Obama when he uses an EO to overstep his authority, but we need to realize that it will ultimately not end with his removal for office. We need to be ready for what comes after.
