I live in coastal Maine, WAY north of Augusta....Hancock County.
The Portland area of Maine is moonbat central. The police chief in Portland, and those that came before him, are hostile towards the second amendment.
Here in the northern half of Maine, people are armed to the teeth and I can’t see them giving up their firearms under any circumstances. I know some of the cops in these parts and while I can’t speak for all of them, I believe large numbers of the rural cops would be on the side of the people.
I’ve known conservatives who are, or were, in positions of authority in town offices and city councils. The moonbats seem to be concentrated in the high-priced coastal communities. There are a number of transplants from Massachusetts and New York....those are the ones to watch out for.
At least we have Paul LePage, a TEA Party guy, as Maine governor.
I’m in rural NH.

We have friends in a rural area north west of Bangor. What you say is true. I think there are some regions in the country where the commies will just let ‘em be. What they’ll do is cut off all gummint support, but most folks up there don’t need it and won’t miss it.They take care of one another.

Yup. Transplants from Connecticut and Rhode Island are just as bad.

I envy you. Here in NH, we’ve had nothing but commies in the corner office for the last four years, and another commie just got elected. Our whole congressional delegation is outright commie, not even a RINO in the lot.
