For those brave guys (and gals) who *did* serve there the old adage surely applies..."all gave some,some gave all".
Now with that Said, I do Not believe that Military Service should be a requirement to be President.
John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Calvin Coolidge, Sarah Palin et al. never served in the Military and they were and would have made fine Presidents.
And some that did Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter etc were out right terrible.
The problem arises when your ideology is at odds with America's Welfare as a nation (see Ubama and his radical friends)
Well, that was a leap, now the topic is whether military service is required for president, since when has that ever arose as a requirement? What are you posting about?

I was posting about the recent GOP candidate and the Vietnam war, his actions were dishonorable, cowardly, dishonest, and should have been a major obstacle to conservative, patriotic acceptance of his candidacy.
Right, I was simply stating that even though Willard dodged his Military Service to the Hilt and criticized the Vietnam War, despite never even going al la, The Ferris Bueller quote.
One does not have to Serve in the Military in order to praise it. I was merely presenting a cautionary statement, Sorry I should have made that more clear.
Will Kerry tell of that fateful Christmas day when he was dodging bullets on a swiftboat in Cambodia?
I also remember Vietnam. I remember John Kerry coming back and LYING through his teeth about the men and women sent there!! I remember being called “killer”, “baby raper” and “doper”.
I remember a Congress that used to take their disagreements with the president out on the troops by cutting off the money to fund the war so that they could get something THEY wanted. The troops didn’t have gas to fly planes or materials to resupply troops in need of bullets and artillery shells, but the Vietnamese just kept coming at us; killing and wounding soldiers whose only means of defense was some sergeant yelling “duck!” So, a month or two later, when Congress got what they wanted, the troops were finally able to get the supplies they needed!
I remember not being able to get a job that had any future when I was 18 because I hadn’t served in the military and Uncle Sam was sure to want me. Then, after I got out, I remember not being able to get a job that had any future because I HAD served my country! And, I remember having to go back into the military to get a job that involved more than just scutwork gopher crap.
I remember Jane Fonda sitting at a North Vietnamese artillary gun wearing a NVN helmet and telling America how wonderful the North Vietnamese are and wondering why the mean American troops were trying to destroy them.
I remember Walter Cronkite going on TV right after the Tet offensive, looking Mr. and Mrs. America in the eye and LYING to them that we had lost!! That was the biggest lie ever told and caused to war to be extended for another 7 years!! How many MORE American soldiers were killed or injured in those 7 years? How many more innocent Vietnamese civilians were killed or injured in those 7 years as the result of his lies!!??
And, how do I know he lied?? Several VC and NVN generals mentioned in their biographies after the war was long over, that we had whipped them to a standstill during Tet. They were done; on the verge of capitulation . . . . . . . . . . . . until they heard Cronkite’s broadcast. It gave them new energy and demoralized the American troops.
7 years later, we were run out of Saigon like chickens running from a fox because America wasn’t committed to winning.
Yeah, I remember Vietnam every day with the injuries I received there and the tons of medication I have to take every day to control pain and discomfort. I remember troops being spit on when they returned to America, approximately 12 hours off the battlefield.
That’s the Vietnam I remember.
The thing is that Romney is anti-military, his family has been dedicated to being anti-military, since arriving in America 170 years ago.
Mitt fits that Ferris quote, except that being something like a sociopath, he doesn’t feel guilt, but a feeling of success at having lived up to his anti-American traditions, yet winning leadership over the GOP.
Obama beat him in the election, but he did implement Romney’s decades old goal of homosexualizing the military.
Still don’t get why people believed Cronkite said about Tet.

Yep, I said during the campaign Romney was Ubama with less Melanin and better hair.
Several reasons.
1) Cronkitre had already been billed as "the most trusted man in America" long before the Tet story.
2) there was no internet to verify whether the information was true or not. In those days, as today, the media controlled what news got reported and what news didn't.
3) The media gave Kerry and Fonda intense credibility because they had "been there", plus Fonda was a celebrity. The troops were considered biased if they opposed what Kerry said. Since practically none of us had the same access to microphones and cameras that media darling Kerry did, the real story never got out because the media had gone beyond reporting to manipulating the news and Kerry was a convenient tool.
I look forward to seeing an article comparing the bizarre similarities between Obama and Romney.
No matter the issue or the topic, the similarities were uncanny, whether talking about being non-Christian, or anti-Christian, Obamacare, the military, issues like homosexuality or abortion, being foreign or exotic, being remote and out of touch, strange parents and family history, polygamy, no matter what it was, Romney and Obama had a lot in common.
LOL, that’s a keeper.
