Please don’t take this the wrong way. But, I’ve always wanted to ask a biker this.
Why is it that you see them always with the outstretched down-low forefinger salute to other bikers they pass? Is this supposed to be cool or something?
Seems to me you guys ‘borrowed’ the move from Corvette owners who actually had/have something that qualified as elitist to greet each other with because of their relative rarity in public.
In the case of motorcycles, the elitism of scarcity just isn’t there. I guess we’ll know that move has ‘jumped the shark’ when you start seeing bicyclists do the same thing.
It’s called “Camaraderie”.
I surprised a FReeper wouldn’t understand that.
It’s got nothing to do with Corvettes.
“Two fingers down” is a greeting that says “Keep the rubber side down”.
It’s a wish for safety for the other rider.
Corvettes aren’t “rare” enough, IMO.
The local weekly car show is lousy with them and they hog space that would be better used by real Detroit muscle.
Bikers don’t do “elite”.
