(From CTD email) Cheaper Than Dirt! recently announced that it was temporarily suspending online sales of firearms pending a review of its order processing and procedures. Well-known for its ability to process and ship orders within 24 hours, online sales have skyrocketed to a point where it may take up to 72 hours for firearms and other items to ship.
"In light of recent events, we believe it is prudent to review our policies and procedures to ensure we can continue to provide the products and firearms our customers demand," said Chief Operations Officer Roberta Wilson. "We will resume online sales once we update our process and continue as we have always done by shipping firearms only to FFL dealers."
Ms. Wilson closed with, "As a long-time supporter of the Second Amendment, we will continue to serve the needs of the firearms community while ensuring our unsurpassed level of quality and customer service."
(My highlighting.)
Email I received said:
"Cheaper Than Dirt! will Resume Online Firearm Sales Pending Policy Changes".
Website says it slightly different...
Cheaper Than Dirt! will resume online sales of firearms once we update and improve our process..
I replied to their email with the same message I sent to them yesterday...(sorry, I can’t print that).
did you send them “the bird”?
No, I used...er...dirty words.
Where’s that bar of soap...
I suspected they were not a bunch of spineless weasels, just friggin’ OVERWHELMED with orders!
I guess they didn’t enjoy their short stay in Zumbo-land.
Maybe they will go out of business for their knee-jerk reaction.
Hopefully, gun owners will find another place to buy.
CTD can get bent. Shop at MidwayUSA, Brownells, etc.
No links to guns at this point. We will see how long it takes.
The way firearms prices are skyrocketing, they can get some business back IF they really offer some good deals.
“Cheaper Than Dirt” don’t mean squat when the prices are all “Higher than Shite”
And we can help.
I got the same email and I replied in much the same way, telling them they had lost my business forever. I'll spend a couple of $$ more somewhere else on an item.
Join me in a boycott on Cheaper Than Dirt!
Tell them so and tell them why!
I wonder how many sales they are losing during this period?
Yesterday, when you followed a link to a specific gun, the message displayed said, “Cheaper than Dirt does not sell firearms”.
Not, “Cheaper than Dirt has temporarily suspended firearm sales”.
And, you’d think they’d have given this information up front to keep the speculation to a minimum.
Smells fishy to me. I think they realize it was a bad move and now they’re backing off.
I hope they backtrack the liberal idiot who came up with that harebrained idea right out of his job.
Why do these guys always have to go into gun sales, or hardware sales, or some other such manly line of work? Why aren't there hand-wringing companies out there they can go to work for?: Hello, ladies and gentlemen, this is the XYZ Handwringing Co... You tell us your sad story and we'll stand around wringing our hands over it... and our rates are reasonable!
Anyone who retreats on gun sales is a Traitor to the 2A and will not get one thin dime from me.
Dick’s and CTD are now on my No Go list. Forever.
Nothing they could do would fix it.
I just went to their site, and when you click on a particular gun, it still says “CheaperThanDirt.com does not sell firearms”.
I assume they were overwhelmed by PO’d former customers like me.
I probably would do the same thing. Make sure all your ducks are in order.
There will probably be thousands of trial attorneys ready to sue anyone that sells a gun. Paperwork and procedure is in order.
