Yesterday the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) failed to reach the two-thirds majority needed to ratify the treaty. The White House expressed its dissatisfaction saying, in part, We are disappointed that the overwhelming majority of Senate Republicans today blocked the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which would enshrine American standards that have been developed through decades of bipartisan cooperation.
The treaty is an international human rights instrument of the United Nations to protect individuals with disabilities. Parties are bound Under the Convention to ensure that disabled people enjoy the same human rights as their counterparts without disabilities, and full equality under the law.

Just one question... are you classy?
They must have had a damn good reason.
When’s the U.N. treaty up for vote that requires all conservatives in the United States be sent to re-indoctrination camps and those not complying will be executed by firing squad.. You know, the treaty that EVERYONE supports called “Save the Cuddly Puppies and Furry Kittens Treaty”?
I’m sure there’s an executive order already written and ready for that. They’re just waiting for the right “crisis”. Never let a crisis go to waste! /sarc
Did you even read the article?
This sh*t was what I was reading about in early 2008 that scared the hell outta me about Bath-House Barry.
Also part of the Global Tax is the Convention on the Child, which may just take parental rights away—your child would become a “ward of the U.N.”—this “disability” sh*t is merely one of the first steps in losing our sovereignty.
Peruse this and then let others know-—including your stinkin’ congresscritters!
snip—”The Millennium Declaration also affirms the U.N. as “the indispensable common house of the entire human family, through which we will seek to realize our universal aspirations for peace, cooperation and development.”

Given the track record of the administration, they probably want to follow in the path of the national socialists, by identifying, sterilizing, then exterminating, children they deem “defective”.

“In October 1939, Hitler himself initiated a decree which empowered physicians to grant a “mercy death” to “patients considered incurable according to the best available human judgment of their state of health.” The intent of the so-called “euthanasia” program, however, was not to relieve the suffering of the chronically ill.
“The Nazi regime used the term as a euphemism: its aim was to exterminate the mentally ill and the handicapped, thus (eliminating) persons considered genetically defective and a financial burden to society.”
Yep!
overwhelming majority of Senate Republicans today blocked the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which would enshrine American standards that have been developed through decades of bipartisan cooperation.
Nuff said
Classy enough not to read a serious blog and ask a totally unrelated, stupid question.
John Kerry was on Hardball Wednesday night, claiming two Republicans voted “yes” on the floor and changed their vote because of “what was going on” (whatever that means). Additionally, he claims that other Republicans have said once they're out of the lame duck session and past the “fiscal cliff” they'll vote in favor of it. He expects it to be passed within three months of the new Congress being sworn in.
This fight ain't over “Princess”.
I’m sorry to see Ayotte voting with the McCain/Graham/Collins/Lugar wing on this.
Me, too. Thought she was different. Guess I was wrong.
Another conservative who’s starting to really disappoint me is Marco Rubio. Do they forget why they were elected or do their handlers drive the conservatism out of them?
I suspect it’s in part that they aren’t as conservative as they pretend to be, in part that their handlers/leadership pounds it out of them, and in part that Washington corrupts them. Too soon for that last one in these cases, however.
I think they’re both strikingly ambitious and from ‘purple’ states. Rubio has always struck me as posturing to get ahead: he only really looked conservative compared to Crist and through some of his rhetoric. E.g., he’s severely pro-amnesty. Ayotte doesn’t seem affected by her handlers on this, but rather probably not that conservative and playing to her home state.
Sigh.
Not too long ago, we were outraged that a SCOTUS member said that it was proper to look at international and other countries laws when rendering decisions "on our Constitution". Now we have an idiot in the WH that feels the exact same way and isn't afraid to express it. We are in some deep doo-doo.
I don’t watch hardball. And I wouldn’t believe kerry on anything.
I don’t watch Hardball either. I watched the clip so I could write a follow up to this article, which will hopefully be posted some time today. They’re not going to quit. As I said in my follow-up, it’s what they do.
Conservatives think they won the war and they walk away. Progressives know this was just a minor skirmish and they take to the airwaves to demonize anyone who doesn’t go along with their agenda. Conservatives remain silent because they think they won. Then the leftists come back and present the same legislation or treaty and the narrative has already been set from the last little battle and the fact that no one bothered to educate the public about the truth of the matter. And guess what? The supposed conservatives cave in and do what the democrats want. And guess who really wins the war?
You have good reason not to believe Kerry. He’s a liar. And I proved it in my follow-up article. But when he says they’re going to push it through anyway, you can take that to the bank! That’s why it’s imperative we stay on our senators and insist they not pass this treaty.
Yes, we are. And I don’t know how we can get out of it. Wiser minds than mine will have to figure that one out. And I hope they do so quickly. I’ll gladly assist in whatever is needed to rescue my country. Just give me a job to do.
Somewhat obscure FReeper lore related to your name.
