I like the looks of the Ram 1500.
When Dodge is named truck of the year, there is no reality.
MT is part of the MSM so salt grains are required anyway.
I have been a mechanic for over 4 decades, worked on thousands of cars and trucks.
Abd Dodge does look nice, the Chrysler cars look nice, but I would buy a full sized Ram p/u and slide a Silverado chassis and electrical system under, the Dodge drive train is weak, the electrical system not much changed over the decades and is a mess.
But I love the look of the new Ram, looks like an old Alco PA diesel locomotive, but truck of the year? Must have been some free drugs at THAT meeting.
I’ll keep my F150. 11 years old, 160k miles, runs like a top. I absolutely refuse to support government motors in any way, shape or form.
Dodge could go away tomorrow and I wouldn’t miss it.
Hah! How hard was that?
I will never buy a Chrysler or GM product of any kind again in my life. Period. Ever. Never.
As opposed to my ‘96 Ram 5.2L V8—one of the last of the 318s—which had 220 hp new. And doesn’t have anywhere near that now. :)
192,000 miles, though, and it’s still running, more or less.

Not odd for V-6's these days. My Camry has 268 ponies and will get up to 32 mpg highway (rated 28, but staying at 65-70 gets better mpg). The same size engine in the Maxima is at 300 or so ponies. Today's V-6's outperform many of the legacy V-8's and get good mileage to boot. The biggest problem with a V-6 as a workhorse engine is that the mileage will drop severely when under load (towing, etc.). For workhorse purposes, no 6 is better than a solid straight 6.
At first I thought that this was Rahm being named Mayor of the Year or maybe Motor-Mouth of the Year! Just me and my myopia.
Why does that make me think of a young Slick Willy with Astroturf in the back of his El Camino?
It must have been their turn.
Put bench seats back in cars and trucks and stop with the cockamamie console that steals all of the leg room, and makes you sit with you legs together.
Give it 5 - 6 years the clear coat falls off. Resale is crap for a reason.
It may be the truck of there year, but where I am working on a huge mine project 75% of the trucks are Ford with Ram and Chev lagging far behind.
And people don’t buy Fords because they are inexpensive.
I am thru making major purchases in this new Obama economy. Cars and trucks, not on my shopping list. I will drive what I have till it dies...Then I will fix it and keep driving it. I have no confidence in my future or the USA’s future.
Does any other truck even advertise on TV? The only commercials I see are for the Dodge Ram.
