An anti-gun owner initiative considered in Washington could lead to massive civil disobedience and a severe domestic crisis, gun law expert John M. Snyder warned on Friday.
"According to confidential information," he said, "forces linked with the administration suggest the government classify semiautomatic firearms and multiple capacity ammunition feeding devices as Title 2 National Firearms Act items under the Gun Control Act of 1968.
Americans familiar with federal gun laws understand that under this scenario, semiautomatics and high capacity magazines could be acquired only with great difficulty and at great expense by America's estimated 100 million law-abiding firearms owners, notes Snyder.
According to Snyder and other gun ownership advocates, the Obama administration long ago realized it would have insurmountable difficulty getting a semiautomatic gun ban, such as that considered by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and others, passed Congress, especially when the House is controlled by defenders of the Second Amendment.
Congressional Second Amendment supporters already are preparing for such a battle. During the Clinton years, Congress enacted a partial, temporary semiautomatic ban but allowed it to sunset after 10 years because of its lack of significant negative impact on crime, according to surveys conducted by the National Association of Chiefs of Police.
The Obama administration, now safely reelected, may order the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to take the classification step. Some gun-grabbers view the designation of Street Sweeper shotguns as Title 2 firearms during the Clinton administration as precedent for such a move.

Well that's true if you want to get all technical on me. :)
But in the sense of "one shot per trigger pull", it's the same as a semi-auto.
30-06 is fine. Use Hornady Super Match 185 grain .
Scope:
Luepold MK IV or Schmidt & Bender.
Reach out and touch someone with your long distance cordless drill....
Not gonna happen using that logic anyway. Street sweepers were over 50 cal which brought them under the 1934 NFA. Any kind of re-definition within the 1968 GCA requires congress to do it. With Fast and Furious slowing up in his face I’m guessing Obamuzzie won’t want to tangle with guns for awhile.
Also:
April 19, 1943 - beginning of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
April 19, 1993 - murder of the Branch Davidians.
April 19, 1995 - Oklahoma City bombing.
Makes you really wonder what was the motivation of those who slammed “birthers”....
I don't think that will fly. I would advise losing them in a boating incident. Rough seas, they all fell overboard or maybe you had to toss them overboard to keep the boat from sinking.
I believe that they will try to reclassify revolvers as semi-automatic since the chamber rotates automatically as you pull the trigger thereby putting the next bullet in line for firing.
Unintended consequences. Expand NFA enough and people will discover its just $200 tax and some paperwork - and a whole new world of guns opens up to them. Those pesky restrictions evaporate: 16” barrel limit? Any length now. Flash suppressors? Get a silencer instead. Semi auto? Heck, full auto - 922(o) would fall soon after. BATFE would be deluged with paperwork, and courts declaring the bureaucratic delays unconstitutional.
And before you say “but in NY”: I bought my first NFA gun in NY, a 12ga pistol (!), all legal to the amusement of the sheriff who signed the forms.
He knows not he game he is about to play...
Amen to that! I believe it is a quote from Thomas Jefferson that applies here (not sure I have quoted it exactly accurate, but here goes).....
"The tree of liberty must be watered now and then, with the blood of tyrants and that of patriots"
I believe we are well past that thresh hold for the past 20 years or so, perhaps longer.
I kind of disagree.
There seems to be a growing sentiment among the public, especially with the high-profile mass shootings, of supporting this.
Remember the ones that voted for Obama? They are the majority now, and they would support a law like this.
Coincidence?..
Coincidence?..
Unclear if this is real..if so, the party starts early:

No, with long guns you'd still have bolts, pumps and lever actions, and even the semis wouldn't be quite "illegal", just a PITA to own, you'd have to register them like machine guns, etc. Besides, with freedom-phobes like these, what would make a revolver exempt? It still fires once per pull, just like an auto.
semi-auto’s and full clips will... just saying ;)
I’m on the other side of this issue.
Read the headlines these days - everybody and his brother and his sister and their pet pooch is buying a firearm lately. They can’t keep them in the shops.
Democrats, Republicans, Liberals, Conservatives, Black, White, Asian, Latino... nobody wants a tax on firearms.
In fact, nobody wants any more firearms legislation, period, except a few far left legislators who are completely out of touch with their constituencies.
I don’t see it happening.
I'd say let's test that theory with a couple hundred legislators.
That suggestion is manifestly unfair to hogs...they've got a right to be fed with something a bit more tasty than slop and corn.
