Proposed Concepts for the Constitution of the New Republic of Texas

The United States federal government has usurped its power under its Constitution. It has become oppressive and unresponsive to the people of America. Under both major political parties, it has lost control of its fiscal responsibilities which will irreparably harm us and our posterity. It is time that Texans free ourselves from such oppression and peacefully secede. But before doing so, we should have direction for a new Republic. This document is an outline for concepts to be incorporated in the new Constitution for the independent Republic of Texas.

Reasons for Texas to Peacefully Secede:

(1) Freedom. We would control our own destiny. (2) Financial. A free and independent Texas would experience an unprecedented economic boom. People would be moving here in droves. Whatever debt we have to assume of our share of the US government could be paid off.

“Fear drives the anti-secession losers to always post first on these threads. Don’t think it goes unnoticed.”

Lol.
I’m sorry I’m sure you’re right. States will begin seceding any minute now lol.
It might be easier to build a time machine to transport you back to a better time. That’s easily as realistic.

Today, I am MORE than willing to give my life trying to protect the freedom, liberty and representative republic called America that I grew up in.

If it does happen that we find ourselves in an "unpleasant" situation with FedGov™ you will not be lonely....

“The people on medicare and other socialist programs will have to survive on there own. I doubt the people of Texas would let anyone starve or deny them emergency health care. That’s the whole point isn’t it? You are either stupid or a socialist yourself for asking such a question.”

I’m sure everybody over the age of 40 is going to support secession if it means they lose the $$ they’ve already paid into SS...not.

The only way any state is leaving this country is after the country no longer exists at all.

With the slippery slope of socialism being enacted at warp speed, your comment may come to fruition earlier than you realize.

My Scots-Irish ancestors are probably spinning in their graves seeing many of their gutless spineless descendents appeasing the Marxist enemies who have taken control. To the Freepers who won't sign a petition just because they are afraid what the government might do in return....... You are cowards.

If true then we deserve the hell we live in.

“If true then we deserve the hell we live in. “

It is true.
The populace seems to be trending left.
The demographics have changed and are continuing to change.
Obama should have been soundly and easily thrashed in his re-election bid. Didn’t happen.
The USA is changing but it’s not ending and no state is going to secede.

A rock ribbed conservative would have blown Obastard out of the water. We had the worst candidate since Dole.

“A rock ribbed conservative would have blown Obastard out of the water. We had the worst candidate since Dole.”

Maybe. I tend to believe that demographics have shifted left.
I also tend to doubt there will ever be another rock ribbed conservative candidate for POTUS.
The powers that be in the GOP won’t let it happen.

That’s another thing too. There aren’t enough conservatives to even get control of the GOP. What chance is there of breaking up the union through secession.

Sadly we’re outnumbered and I don’t see that changing.

Entitlements are no longer about compassion or a safety net. They are a naked vote buying scheme that has brought our nation to the brink

Well put. As Rush stated...."You can't beat Santa Claus"

“Well it is over, every man for himself.”

I don’t think it’s over. It’s just different and will require some adapting.
I was recently on a trip through rural New York state. The sense of community I saw really gave me a feeling of optimism I haven’t had in a long time.

I am not that awfully old, but I was recently asked by a younger person during a political discussion of what is changed the most in the past 40-50 yrs.

I responded that when I was young, it was an embarrassment to family honor to be getting charity. Most did without rather than take the humilation. Now at least a 1/3 of society not only takes charity, it is the norm, expected and / or demanded. We have created an entitlement society that much rather suck on the left hind teat of the government than better themselves. I truly fear for our country.

Well I know what I saw.
Those communities seemed to be getting along better than the
places I saw below the MD line.

I said at the bottom of my post that its not likely to happen because of the welfare state...but lookie:

Texas

..."mighty oaks" grow from small seedlings, don't you know. Who knows what will happen. Nobody can predict the future. Any absolute "prediction" is still a guess at best, and most often what the predictor hopes will happen. If I could predict the future with 100% certainty even 5 min into the future, I would be a multi-multi trillionaire.

BTW...nobody thought the Soviet Union would disappear either, but it did virtually overnight.

I just read, at the link you posted, all the reasons a new Republic of Texas can’t miss.
I live in Texas though and a lot of the simple stuff listed is overly optimistic.

It’s a fun little fantasy. Kind of like daydreaming about being a pirate or a cowboy.
Not realistic and should it happen it wouldn’t be the rich conservative utopia that keeps being described here on FR.

Yes, it very well might come to fruition very soon. Time will tell.

But not signing the petition is not cowardice at all.

It is intelligence.

No way I’m signing my name to such an item that is not going to amount to anything at all and then send it to the enemy of my freedom.

Symbolism means nothing and taking such an action is plain stupidity.

The Civil War settled the question of secession already.

Actually, all the Civil War did was codify the Union's violation of State's Rights. In the Federalist Papers, the concept of secession was understood as implied by the Founders. It wasn't until AFTER the Civil War that the SCOTUS altered the rules to require states to get the POTUS' permission to secede.

IMO, given the politically divisive environment in America today, when the clash comes, it won't matter if we have a secession approved by the POTUS or an out and out revolt; the desire to not be bound by or live under the oppressive Obama regulations is in the air. And I believe that that desire to "fix" the problems associated with Obama will grow more intense after Taxmageddon kicks in.

The federal government including Social Security, Medicare, etc. is insolvent. The promised payouts for entitlements is somewhere in the neighborhood of $200 Trillion. That which cannot be paid won’t be paid. Why should Texans live under the laws imposed by an insolvent federal government? The best thing for the federal government is default (imo) on the other hand, a promise by we Texans to help pay this debt might be a point of negotiation and part of our way out.

The Feds are about to implode, Beghazi, Hostess, Denny’s, Papa Johns.

Look at all the individual items all connected to Obama.Unions screwing America, Busniness charging Obamacare surchases, mass layoffs and the loss of full time work weeks.

All of it can be traced directly back to the infiltration of America by the Muslim Brotherhood and the Communist Party USA, and the figurehead Obama .
