Outgoing CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus’ resignation over an extramarital affair was reportedly held until after Tuesday’s election to avoid “potential embarrassment” for President Barack Obama, according to Newsmax.
FBI agents learned of the affair while monitoring Petraeus’ emails out of concern that the woman, Petraeus biographer Paula Broadwell, may have had access to his personal account, the Associated Press reported.
But an FBI source told Ronald Kessler, the author and journalist who broke the Secret Service prostitution scandal, that rather than having Petraeus resign immediately, the decision was made to hold it until after the election for political purposes:
[T]he White House, with concurrence by the FBI and Justice Department, held off on asking for Petraeus’ resignation until after the election. His resignation occurred three days after the election, avoiding the possibility that Obama’s ill-fated appointment of Petraeus could become an issue in the election.
FBI agents on the case were aware that such a decision had been made to hold off on forcing him out until after the election and were outraged.
“The decision was made to delay the resignation apparently to avoid potential embarrassment to the president before the election,” an FBI source says. “To leave him in such a sensitive position where he was vulnerable to potential blackmail for months compromised our security and is inexcusable.”

If the model for what the left thinks we should be is European, the Europeans would only wink and nod at these types of shenanigans.
The real reason Petraeus had his head lopped off is because of his military background. That just doesn't resonate with the current Western European mode.
Only the president would have had the authority to delay the resignation.

Agree, and I seriously doubt the FBI announced the affair to the country or Petraeus himself did.
Murder in Benghazi is not a cheap scandal.
How about all the layoffs? Why did they wait until after the election. If they would have layed off a week before election it would have definitely helped Romney.
It is uncertain who is in charge, the MSM or the Democrats.

Petraeus knew he was having an affair when he was made CIA director a year ago. Did he lie about it when the CIA vetted him or was he given a pass?
“Was there anything that wasn’t held back to protect him until after the election?”

4) The truth about Fast and Furious;
Drip, drip, drip. Wait until the truth about vote-stealing hits the fan. Maybe a quick impeachment will spare us a disastrous second term....
My husband let out a big guffaw at the name of the book this woman wrote about Petraeus. “All In”, LOL

I am amazed how Petraeus was able to leave just before he was supposed to testify to Congess about the Benghazi attack. < /sarc>

According to an interview with former CIA guy Bob Baer done by Piers Morgan on CNN- affairs between D-CIA are not uncommon and have never been regarded as security threats. It seems there is more to this than any of us are getting...YET.
Baer tells Morgan that an affair with a biographer hardly represented a security risk. At least “four or five” DCIAs in Baer’s time had sexual affairs that never warranted an internal security investigation, let alone an outside FBI probe.
Re the drone attack:

And that the New York Times reported that it was in Iranian airspace?
I think they should go after him. Benghazi is an issue that Americans can understand. Obama abandoned 30 Americans under fire in Benghazi to save his re-election. The other part is that Benghazi is part of a bigger issue. Why has Obama helped overthrow the governments of Libya and Egypt? Why was he helping to overthrow the government in Syria? It is about money. And the liberals are going to be plenty angry when they come to the realization that they elected a man who kills people and overthrows governments for money for himself and his buddies. This is the issue that can put an end to the grifter leadership of the Democrat party for 50 years.
So how many of us don’t already know that this is a cya story that doesn’t care how many lives are ruined because of it? THIS is what obama considers ‘optimal’.
