Now his support of Obama makes a little more sense. Picture at link.

“Taken at the Jamaica 50th Independence Grand Gala, in Kingston.”
Both Calypso Louie and Colin Powell are the sons of Jamaican immigrants. They may have just been seated together in the VIP section.
It also explains the beautiful young woman, wearing the yellow of the Jamaican flag. Protocol hospitality hostess. You can see a bunch of patriotic yellow shirts in the stadium, and a Jamaican flag hatband in the other photo.
Well...just proves that Colin Powell is just another Black Racist. Louis Farrahkhan is pathologically evil
Some in the military or civilian government are promoted to get them out of the way. I believe this shoe fits here as it did with the terrorist from Ft Hood.
That is simply amazing, I never would have expected that.
Well, you just said it ....”the majority of racial preference beneficiaries...”. Just because someone may have benefited from a policy, does not mean that will continue to support it. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is one such person.
Another Bush favorite.
A Bush appointee yet.
Yet another Bush appointee.
They're not seated BTW.
Another Bush appointee posing for pics...
While serving in the Pentagon during the First Gulf War, I saw both Cheney and Powell everyday walking to their morning briefings (I worked the mid-shift in the CCF). Cheney was always friendly to all of us whereas Powell was aloof and very professional. At the time, I admired Powell but a friend who worked with me absolutely despised him, calling him a phony warrior so political that he was willing to say or do anything to remain in power. Seems as if my friend nailed him perfectly.

IMHO, he’s been a mole a long time, helping George The Elder to snatch defeat out from the jaws of victory..
Black and democrat is thicker than patriotism!
I’m sure he could have been seated elsewhere had he wanted to be. I don’t think he particularly objects to Farrakhan. The Dems were screaming that Sununu was racist for saying that Powell was supporting Obama solely on the basis of his color, but IIRC, Powell even said in 2008 that he would “have to” vote for the black candidate, or something to that effect.
Personally, I think he probably supports Obama’s policies as well, but he didn’t want to come out and say so at that time. He’s less inhibited about it now.
Yup, funny looking pin Louie’s wearing but I don’t think Playboy Bunny, it’s more like a deer driving a John Deere.
Bush’s(41) fingerprints are ALL over Powell.
Bottom Line: I don’t think that Powell solid, and do think that he has shown serious flaws.
Just trying to maintain a bit of circumspect consideration in evaluating the situation. No question that associating with Louie is extreme. He does look real comfortable with him. If he has fallen in with such a crowd he is a total loss. Just want to be careful before writing off such a high level person.
If the country that my ancestors emigrated from invited me to a major anniversary celebration and honored me with VIP treatment, got a couple of drinks into me and had a smiling model flatter me, while everyone was celebrating with great music playing - it would be a lot easier for me to be briefly cordial with Calypso Louie - if only to be courteous to the host and not be a party pooper.
Just on the basis of endorsing Obama however, Powell should never be trusted with a position of authority again.
I believe Reagan FIRST named Powell to some post from which GHWB could consider him for chairman of the joint chiefs.
A passed on retired army colonel/editorial writer used to call them perfumed princes.
