Arriving on Capitol Hill in 1981, he became a dominant force during the Judiciary Committees rancorous Supreme Court nomination battles. More than anyone else, he helped defeat conservative nominee Robert Bork in 1987, and his aggressive questioning of law professor Anita Hill four years later he accused her of flat-out perjury helped secure Clarence Thomass confirmation.... He was a Rockefeller Republican, a liberal Republican, and was willing to take on Presidents Reagan and Bush, and became a true leader in the bipartisan efforts that strengthened all the civil rights laws and defeated Bork, said Ralph G. Neas, a longtime civil rights and health-care advocate.
Then you had a line of demarcation, Neas said, beginning with Thomass Supreme Court nomination and continuing with the Republican majorities in the House and the Senate after the 1994 midterm elections. Arlen Specter became an especially cautious politician, Neas said.... After Sen. Specter warned President George W. Bush not to nominate judges who would overturn Roe v. Wade the 1973 Supreme Court case that essentially legalized abortion rights conservative Republicans protested his appointment to the Judiciary Committee. Sen. Specter later said he would not use a litmus test to deny confirmation to abortion opponents.
He presided over the confirmations of Supreme Court Justices John G. Roberts Jr. and Samuel A. Alito Jr. and was a key force behind passage of some of the Bush administrations controversial anti-terrorism laws, including the Patriot Act. But as controversy erupted over the governments handling of detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Sen. Specter became a leading proponent of habeas corpus rights for unlawful combatants.
Unfortunately, I can't say that I'll miss you.

Arlen, I will not speak ill of the dead, but you will not be missed.
He is finally gone! I don’t think I will live long enough to say that about another Politician I want out of my life!
He has gone to his final reward. Enjoy it, Arlen, you’ve earned it.
I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarmneither hot nor coldI am about to spit you out of my mouth.
Who is playing in tomorrow’s Monday Night Football game?
Another piece of information in the JFK assassination lost.
I find them oddly comforting.

According to Scottish law, he’s an asshole
RIP Arlen Specter. Since he at least had the decency to turn Democrat he may not have to know what that special place in hell reserved for RINO’s is like.
The longer Republicans stay in Washington, the more they morph into Arlen Specter, or Orrin Hatch or Richard Lugar. Term limits is the only answer.
Specter died, huh?
Oh. Well, I`m sure somebody will miss him. May he receive whatever in the afterlife he has coming to him.
He can roast in the Ted Kennedy grease fire.
I will NOT miss you, good riddance, the only person that may miss him is his old client Ira Einhorn, he gave Ira 17 years of freedom in Europe by reducing his bail to $40,000 and Barbara Bronfman paid the $4,000 for him.
Say hi to Adrian Adonis and Kurt Cobain for me.
“Well...bye”
With all respect to the death of any human being ... Arlen Specter is a prime example of all that is wrong with the American Political system ... Specter ran again and again for Self-Preservation ... not for his country’s preservation ... Party over politics - but for Specter it was Party for Specter - whatever political party - any party would do - depending on the prevailing political sentiment ... the phrase Political Prostitute comes to mind...
He did a lot of damage to our Republic before he died. And he died when he was rendered useless by the dems/rinos. Strange how life works. If he ever truly had God in his life, he would have begged forgiveness. Maybe he did but I have my doubts.
I won't say "go to hell," Arlen, because now it's moot.
