White House sources confirm that in the run up to the decision to involve U.S. military personnel, President Obama was fully briefed that a large portion of the Libyan rebel forces most active in areas around such critical cities as Benghazi had ties to al Qaeda, particularly Al Qaeda in Iraq, the wing of the terrorist group that killed hundreds of U.S. troops in Iraq....
Secretary Clinton knows it, the White House knows it, but were working with these thugs anyway because the President thinks its the moral thing to do in the face of Gaddafi.

Weekend media reports showed al-Qaidas flag flying in central Benghazi, and noted that Libyan anti-aircraft missiles had been purchased by terror groups, but White House spokesman Jay Carney said Monday the administration has not been surprised by news reports from Libya.
Im not aware of anything that has been reported that has surprised us out of Libya, Carney said during a morning press briefing.
White House officials have not responded to The Daily Callers request for an explanation of Carneys statement.
