Leadership: The lack of respect our commander in chief has for our fallen heroes was shown by the sending of a form letter signed by auto-pen to the families of 17 Navy SEALs killed in a crash in Afghanistan.
'I don't take these folks too seriously," President Obama recently told the Virginian-Pilot, referring to a group of former SEALs who formed the Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund Inc., to run ads attacking the leaking of details of the Osama bin Laden raid and other national secrets to further his reelection chances.
Apparently the president doesn't take the sacrifice of Navy SEALs who've fallen in battle and the grief of their surviving families too seriously, judging from the form letter sent out to the families of 17 who were among 30 U.S. service members killed when a CH-47 Chinook helicopter transporting them crashed in Wardak province, Afghanistan, on Aug. 6, 2011.
As Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit reports, Karen and Billy Vaughn, parents of Aaron Carson Vaughn, spoke at the Defending the Defenders forum sponsored by the Tea Party Patriots outside the Republican National Convention in Tampa.
Karen brought a copy of the form letter they were sent after their son's death in that crash. It shocked her to discover that all the families had received the same letter with only the names different.
It shocks us too. This was the single greatest loss of life in the decade-long Afghan war, one involving 17 Navy SEALs who were on a mission to aid a U.S. Army Ranger unit that was under heavy fire. Such a sacrifice by this group of genuine American heroes warranted more than a form letter to the families.

The “Auto-Signed” assertion has been debunked several times. Obama is bad enough that we don’t have to keep giving them opportunities to claim we are lying about him.
They’re not saying it was auto-signed, at least not anymore. Now they are just complaining because it was a form letter, not one he wrote personally for each family.
Those kids did seem to have a bit more sense than the teacher though. One of them visibly tenses as soon as he spots the group of black teens heading towards them and seems to motion to his buddies that it is time to go.
That’s because he knows the Rapper controls or has more influence on votes that he actually wants. His government has been doing everything in its power to keep absentee ballots from the military from even being considered. An utterly despicable excuse for a supposed President.
A form letter...a damn form letter.
“The Auto-Signed assertion has been debunked several times. Obama is bad enough that we dont have to keep giving them opportunities to claim we are lying about him.”
That’s good to know.
The other is that he actually called Sandra Fluke on the phone so he could help this plump, pampered, 31 year old law student with her heart breaking tragedy of having a boyfriend to cheap to pay for a condom.
And the whole “form letter” thing should be an embarrassment to him as well. It’s not like we are losing hundreds of soldiers a week. How hard would it be for him to pen a sentence of personal thanks on each letter?
It wasn't the people, it was the blogger who said it.
Before there were form letters, Abraham Lincoln wrote to every mother of a fallen Union troop.
I am sure that the unfilled-out form on the computer [before printing] begins as follows:
