... even after his DISASTROUS performance during the debate.
She's Italian (came to this country at age 14 in 1956), and I just have a feeling that she misses Mussolini in some way and sees POTUS as a somewhat Mussolini-like figure. She's been all about "social justice" in recent years.
She's been retired for over 10 years and receives an average pension. She's by no means "rich". Very middle class, and dare I say perhaps even lower middle class...
In 2008, she supported Hillary until the very end, and eventually settled with Obama when he got the nomination. She LOVES him and his wife and the entire Obama family.
I cannot comprehend this.
I like the suggestion in a previous post, to take her to see the 2016 movie.
However, she very well might be a hopeless mental case of liberalism.
I have family who despise Jews.
Some family will be insane, and better never seen again. Just live with it.
I have a family member whose wife is second generation Italian.
Recently for their anniversary they wanted to take a trip to Italy. But his wife had an unusual amount of difficulty getting a passport. The application was on hold and seemed to take forever before eventually she finally got it.
Turned out the delay was due to the fact that unbeknownst to her, her mother had been a member of the Italian Communist Party. She must have been red flagged in the database, to coin a phrase. Italy had lots of Communists roaming around in the post-war era. So it’s not a shock they would gravitate towards Obama today.
My grandparents are in their 80s and it’s the same with them. Both are obviously conservative-mindedi.e., they’re against gay marriage, dislike welfare, oppose race politics, etc. Yet they still vote die-hard Democrat, apparently unaware that the party platform moved on without them some decades ago.
Just ensure that she knows that election day is November 7th.
find the George Will recent column that discusses the death panels in Obamacare - something that can be repealed only in during a window 2017 by 3/5 of the Congress and then never at all. Clearly unconstitutional but in place forever unless someone figures a way around it.
Does you father like the idea of death panels?
Nothing personal, but your mother’s a fool.
Because that's what another term will mean.
My father came to this country from Holland when he was around 6 or 7. He never made it past the 4th grade. He eventually took a job with the NY Central Railroad as a laborer, and eventually made it to track foreman. He retired at age 65, died at 72. He was a long-time Democrat, but I only believe it was because he’d lived through the depression, then became a union member with the railroad. He always used to say that the Democrat’s take care of the working people. He was a hard worker, good father, very patriotic, loved this country, and passed that love of country down to his children. Although he was a Democrat to the day he died, if he was alive today, he wouldn’t recognize the party and would probably be a Republican.
My elderly neighbor asked me what I thought of the Food Stamp President. I told her that I thought he was a communist and a junkie. She gave me a strange look. I told her to watch his face, especially his eyes during his appearances. I also asked her to look up Social Justice, fairness, redistribution of wealth, etc. I suggested a good place to start was the web site for the Communist Party USA. She had a little different opinion when I spoke to her yesterday.
go to Hillbuzz - see articles by a guy (who was a Hillary supporter) in Chicago who is in a position to know about the real Obamas.
I have always wondered where that picture was taken and what he was actually doing. I mean, was he really striking that haughty pose, was he listening to the Muslim call to prayer, what???
ROFL!! Excellent!!
I'm sorry for your loss.
/sarcasm
I support your decision. My folks wanted to vote for Clinton in 1996 and depended on me to get them to the polls. I refused. My father was furious and said I was denying him his right to vote. I explained that I was doing no such thing. I was exercising my right to decide who gets to ride in my car and when.
My mom, age 74, thinks Obama is an lying idiot and a socialist/communist.
My Mom is in her 70’s and is voting for Romney.
She was for him when I was for Newt in the primaries.
So there.
