....Speaking to a largely black audience, Obama in the video made the case that race relations still had a long way to go in the United States, claiming the divide most severely has an impact on impoverished parts of the country.
....Democratic commentators fired back after portions of the speech aired Tuesday night, saying the remarks were old and blown out of proportion.
"I think that there is no material significance here, but the Republicans are very good at taking nothing and turning it into what appears to be something," Boyce Watkins, founder of yourblackworld.com, said on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360."
He added: "We have to remember that we live in a country that has for 400 years been poisoned by the psychological disease of racism and it doesn't take much to spark that back up."
Countering, conservative blogger and CNN contributor Erick Erickson said Obama's comments were telling of the president's personal views on race in the United States.
"He's addressing a largely black crowd and making the point that very clearly, that they in New Orleans got treated differently from people in New York and people in Florida because they somehow weren't part of the American community," Erickson said. "That's fanning the flames."
Obama's re-election campaign also weighed in late Tuesday night, calling it an attempt to change the subject from "(Romney's) comments attacking half of the American people," referring to secretly-recorded video of Romney saying 47% of Americans do not pay federal income taxes and are "victims" dependent on the government..........

Watkins referred to Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity as "UnAmerican borderline Klansmen who graduated from the Rush Limbaugh School of Arrogant Self-righteousness". During one CNN episode, after Bill O'Reilly made controversial statements about African Americans during his visit to Sylvia's Restaurant in Harlem, Watkins referred to Juan Williams as "Bill O'Reilly's happy little Negro", in reference to Williams' insistence that O'Reilly did nothing wrong.
In response, Williams wrote a scathing piece about Watkins in Time Magazine. O'Reilly spent a week on his show calling for Watkins to be fired from his post at Syracuse University. Watkins referred to Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh as "The Axis of Ignorance" for what Watkins believed to be racist attacks against the Black community.
Later in the spring of 2008, Watkins formed an online protest through his website YourBlackWorld.com. In response to Fox News criticism of Senator Barack Obama and Pastor Jeremiah Wright, Watkins asked his supporters to write to Bill O'Reilly's corporate sponsors and complain about O'Reilly's behavior.........................." Coming on the heels of the Univision interview, in which our media were shown to be the lap-dogs they've always been, there may be some independents for whom this video confirms what they've been feeling.
Those on the right already knew Obama was a fraud, and many on the left will hear precisely what they want from Obama in this video. Then there's the "mushy middle", apoliticals and other independents who voted for Obama in 2008 and were already beginning to feel a bit duped by the media.
So here we have the media who conspired to cover up the damaging portions of this speech now accusing the right of coordination to expose them?
Are the media bots at this very minute changing debate questions to appear a bit less one-sided? One can dream.
Even more damning, I would LOVE to see stats such as black unemployment then (as candidate Obama) vs now under pResident Obama.
By all means, put them on the same level as the rest of the MSM where the politically unengaged will know where to find them.
To me, the most interesting question regarding this video is whether it could possibly be what Andrew Breitbart was murdered over.
