Some years ago, I purchased a capon at a supermarket. Since few of these are sold, the cashier didn't know what it was. I explained that a capon is to a rooster what a steer is to a bull. She laughed her head off.
Somewhat embarrassed to admit it, I didn’t even know roosters, or birds in general, had ‘em. They’re on the inside.
