They do NOT deserve sympathy!

I'd have no problem with them getting the death penalty.

The “born that way” argument has always left me cold. As an Orthodox Christian I believe we are all born with disordered passions, which, if we attempt to gratify them, lead us to sin. That particular instances of the disordering of the passions may be particularly grievous (e.g. an inborn ill-temper so hot that unrestrained murder will be the outcome, or an inborn lack of empathy that leads one so afflicted to all manner of sin by regarding his fellow men as mere means, rather than ends, or, yes, some inborn trait which at puberty blossoms into a temptation toward sodomy or pedasty or raping little girls) does not make the actions committed by yielding to the temptations inflicted by these extreme examples of the disordering of our passions any less sinful, or in cases where they not only are sinful but harm other persons or the social order any less worthy of criminalization.

Those who accept the Augustinian understanding of the Fall are free to reword what I just wrote in terms of Original Sin instead of the disordering of the passions, but either way — as I wrote it or Westernized — that is the Christian counter-argument to the “born that way” argument, not “no they [or you] weren’t,” or “there’s no evidence,” which seems to be the way most folks here want to argue against it. Remember the study of the biological basis of behavior is in its infancy: Christian morality does not stand on so weak a foundation that the discovery of a “gay gene” and an epigenetic switch that turns it on (to account for the imperfect concordance between identical twins) should overthrow the Old Covenant declaration that male-on-male anal intercourse is an abomination, or the discovery of a genetic mechanism coding for extreme selfishness would make lack of charity any less blameworthy.

I actually do feel some sympathy for them, but they need to be kept away from children, by force if necessary. You can have sympathy, but still do what you have to do.

Evil: “The New Normal."

Have you missed all of history since the Fall of Man? Nothing new about it.

I love my dog. If she got rabies, I would feel sympathy for her, but I would not hesitate to take her out back and shoot her.

The primary difference between a pedophile and a rabid animal is that a pedophile has free will. If they are unable or unwilling to exercise their free will to do whatever is necessary not to act on their perverse impulses, then they should receive no more consideration than I would give my rabid dog.

It is worth studying them to see if we can find ways to prevent others from turning out the same way. At the same time, our primary concern has to be to protect any potential victims. That means either life time incarceration of convicted pedophiles without any possibility of parole or taking them out back and shooting them.

The best way to express that sympathy is to give them an extra portion of Mystery Meat in the chow line.

California just passed a law making it illegal for parents, counselors or anyone to interfere with a child’s interest in homosexual behavior.

Decisions of the United States Supreme Court Upholding Parental Rights as “Fundamental”....
"The child is not the mere creature of the state; those who nurture him and direct his destiny have the right and the high duty, to recognize and prepare him for additional obligations."

I hope parents are taking this all the way to the Supreme Court.

Science is showing some people have certain brain chemicals which makes them prone to addictions, violence etc. For instance, murders tend to have the same brain formation normal, non violent people do not have.

That being said these pedos need locked up and studied...hopefully a cure will be found through medicine or an operation to treat people in the future...maybe even in the womb.

Jefferson lays out the case for pedophilia being a “sexual orientation”

And thus begins the long-anticipated move toward social "acceptance."

I have nothing but admiration for the man in Texas who killed that child rapist who attacked his four-year-old daughter. If someone were doing that to my child, I'd do exactly the same thing.

Now comes the effort to normalize child molesters.

They've been on this route for years. If Obama wins another term, watch for virtue to be a dirty word.

No matter what, prosecute the crime.

Who's going to pay for the research to find a cure that probably doesn't exist?

It is conceivable, I suppose, that people are born with the inclination to rape children.

Homosexuality is a behavior, lying is a behavior, stealing is a behavior, rape is a behavior, smoking is a behavior, etc..................

So the TRUTH is that we are dealing with behaviors here.

NEXT the discussion should go to are these acceptable behaviors?

After that we can talk about the CAUSE of behaviors. If there is one thing we should have learned from our psychology classes is that behaviors are complex. Because God created us complex, the causes are complex. There seldom is just ONE cause.

BUT, imprinting during our youth is one of the major impacts on behavior (there are exceptions). What we experience during our child hood has a major impact on our lives. Do you now know why the HOMOS Want to teach the children and why PORN is BAD? The libs want to skip steps one and two and distract us in a discussion of the cause.

Research co's are looking at brain addictions (porn, gambling, OCD's etc) and I would suspect many of these conditions are related.

This is a fairly new science and there will probably be some pretty cool discoveries/cures in the next 10-15 years.

There was an article that all the major drug co's are doing research on these conditions. Oh and the gov't is giving out grant money to universities in this area as they have done for a 100 years.

That’s a lot of money to spend on treatment for depravity masquerading as a pseudo-illness, when there are so many actual real diseases needing research/treatment.

Tie a millstone to them and cast them into the sea.

500 years ago we burnt people at the stake thinking they were demons and goblins when all they were was mentally ill.

Again people who diddle with young kids should be thrown in jail for a very long time..but if there is out of whack brain chemical causing these perversions then by all means let's try to find a cure.

Nice sentiment ... if resources available for research are infinite.

But they’re not.

If you don’t like millstones, I’ll settle for ropes or bullets.

You and I are in agrrement. I don’t care what your inclinations are. We all have some weakness. But we’re not animals, we’re human beings, and must control our behaviour.

As far as rapists and pedophiles go, a bullet to the brain immediately upon conviction and one appeal would suit me.

This is no "brain chemical" problem. This is SIN, pure and simple.
