Sad to see the history department at my alma mater take this turn, but it almost seemed inevitable. When I went, the History Department and Civil War Institute were the crown jewels of the college. The Historical Methods Course, required of all undergrad history majors was one of the most feared and demanding courses on the campus. All of the history profs from my years there have retired and/or passed away; they were mostly all WWII vets. Admittedly the poli-sci department was a hot bed of leftists and there was little love lost between the two departments.

Um - well - the union won there, right?
Pro-union does *not* equal liberal.
Dr. Guelzo is a staunch conservative. But he’s pretty much anti-rebellion. Did you know you can be both?

Hubs went to the Army War College in Carlisle and kid went to lacrosse camp at Gettysburg College...
One of our favorite places to be stationed...got the kid interested in history...he and a friend later re-enacted in the Battle of Gettysburg.
Too bad abt the school...a sign of the times.

Happy Birthday Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, b. Sept. 8, 1828...
"We know not of the future, and cannot plan for it much. But we can hold our spirits and our bodies so pure and high, we may cherish such thoughts and such ideals, and dream such dreams of lofty purpose, that we can determine and know what manner of men we will be whenever and wherever the hour strikes, that calls to noble action."
