....Some day, twenty years or so form now, you’re going to just accept as similar fact that actor Kal Penn and President Obama had a romantic relationship that began on the 2008 campaign trail and continued when Obama asked Penn to move to Washington so they could be close to one another and the two could have sex more frequently.
Future biographies of President Obama must contain entire chapters devoted to how Penn’s presence in the White House affected and strained Obama’s relationship with longtime “body man” Reggie Love, who friends and acquaintances since his days playing basketball at Duke described as gay. Penn essentially outed himself as gay last night at the Democrat Convention in Charlotte when he talked about Obama “allowing us all to gay marry”, including himself in the “us all” who can now “gay marry”. Not many straight guys are excited about being able to “gay marry” because of Obama…or in Penn’s case, possibly wanting to “gay marry” Obama in the future.

There's no doubt about it.
After I wrote that I realized I should have written the sarcastic tag after it. As I am sure you know, it originated in a Seinfeld episode where they would kind of roll their eyes and say it.
I agree this is not a helpful article, but for different reasons.
First, Monica Lewinsky was a low-level person as well. Sometimes powerful people are attracted to other powerful people (JFK and Marilyn Monroe, for example.) Other times, powerful people want to use, abuse, and manipulate low-level people who won't talk, or who won't be believed if they do talk. Just how many young interns have mothers who are so perverted that they advise their daughter to keep semen-stained dresses to prove sexual involvement if needed? Bill Clinton would have gotten away with what he did with Monica Lewinski, just as he probably had done with many other women, if it hadn't been for the fact that he finally met his match in somebody even more worldly than himself.
Second, and more important, all of these rumors about Barack Obama being a closeted homosexual are not helpful in defeating him two months from now. Maybe he's homosexual. Maybe he's not. Barring something really radical, we're not going to be able to prove it either way before the November elections, and focusing on this kind of thing risks making us look like conspiracy theorists or people who are grasping at straws because we don't care about facts. Let's focus on his open-and-out positions on economic issues, national defense issues, and social issues — including his pro-homosexual policies — things about which there is no doubt where he stands and what he has done.

Good point. Kal's performances on and off screen makes me think he'd probably be someone higher-ups would avoid, but that's just my subjective impression.

Very good point, and well put. My own opinion is that there's not much to these stories -- the gay music director at the church is murdered and all of a sudden he becomes Obama's lover without any real evidence of a relationship, or somebody reads "body person" or "body guard" and thinks lover, even though all Presidents and candidates have people in those roles -- but you get at the heart of the matter: the rumors aren't going to be proved or disproved before the election; they make us look like conspiracy theorists; and they distract from the issues that really important and that mean victory or defeat at the polls.
You're right, I'm wrong, and I need to remind myself to check things rather than rely on memories of decades-old incidents.

The goal needs to be winning this November. I would not be surprised if many details about President Obama come out later if he loses, but for now, unless someone has a smoking gun somewhere and plans to release it shortly before the election, it's too late for these allegations of personal scandal to be adequately evaluated.
