I always have Puppy Linux and it gets online without a problem. I don’t anything about command lines and stuff so going online and using Open Office is pretty much all I’m going to know how to do at first.

Yes, I see that in some forums. Apparently Linux Mint doesn’t have these problems?

I don’t know. Ubuntu is the only Linux flavor I’ve tried.

Apparently some of the previous versions had some problems with the Toshiba brand, some said the newest versions worked okay. I guess I will find out real soon.

Ubuntu Linux looks awesome and I was online in seconds, literally. It is installed on the new harddrive.

So, I can use the USB memory card normally now, right? Do I have to reformat it again? lol.

I havent heard the fan spin up, I guess I should look into that.

You can use the USB key normally, yes.

OK, apparently the fan sometimes does not stop, which is why I haven’t heard it spin up

Great.

I wonder if there is a program to let me use that wireless printer. I’m going to check the manufacturer website.

I am still worried about the fan wearing/burning itself out. I wonder if that issue was resolved or not.

Sorry little nephew... Hero Up will not work with Linux, weird- I thought it was a browser game

Hero Up requires Flash, as I recall.

It literally said I needed a Windows or Mac OS!

It’s the O/S.

How weird is that?

Flash is no longer supported on Linux, and Linux doesn’t (IIRC) have the browser-callable-tech for the graphics.

Lots of online graphics-intensive games are requiring 11.3 or later, and 11.2 is where official development stopped. Google’s bought out a version of Chrome that will sort of work, but not for most games.

Chrome is worth a try I guess.

On my old machine I had all the browsers, even Safari (very buggy on Win Vista)

Vista itself was buggier than the insect exhibits at the zoo.

strange that the sides of my screen are black and unused as if they were not part of the screen at all. I mean a good inch on either side. weird.

Need to update your video drivers so it can drive your screen properly.
