Obama announces he will skip DNC: Instead will do 17 fundraisers and play golf 5 times

In a further attempt to divert attention from the GOP convention in Tampa, Obama will announce tomorrow that he is going to skip the Democrat Convention next week, where he will be nominated for a second term.

Instead, the WH will reveal Obama's new schedule, which will let him hold 17 fundraisers, and squeeze in 5 rounds of golf in a three day period.

In remarks to the Huffington Post, Obama says that he was secretly thrilled when the DNC convention was cut back to three days, and that Isaac made the GOP do the same thing. The president basically thinks that conventions are silly, and a waste of time and money.

Asked if he was worried that the people of North Carolina would be upset that he isin effect bugging out on their state, he said.."Not really...and hey..it's not like I'm going to carry NC this time. So, no big deal."

He stressed the need to raise lots of funds, if he is to have any chance of winning in November, thus the need for the fundraisers. " My peeps ain't coming across like they did in 2008, so, I have no choice."

Asked if playing golf several times instead might send the wrong message, Obama looked around the cabin of AF One, where this interview was being conducted, and said,"Man..just look at this awesome golf cart. I get to fly in, play 18, fly out." The president appeared to tear up as he said, "I may not be able to do this too much linger."

And as for snubbing key Democrats, he said.."look, I don't even talk to those people when I'm in DC. Do you have ANY idea what a pain in the butt it is to have to talk to Biden, Peid, and Pelosi."

Levin made a great point today - while the media (and many republican commentators) loudly anguished over how the RNC would work around the hurricane, Obama, who is in charge of FEMA & every other federal agency involved in disasters, didn't deviate from his own schedule one iota.

Nor did the media suggest he should, or even mention he didn't.

I don’t know if this article is real or not, but I’ve been throwing out the possibility that Obama might walk before he has to accept the nomination. This is a lost election, barring any illegal Democrat shenanigans, so it wouldn’t really matter who the Dems nominate at this point.
