As one who regularly watches Greta's show on FNC, I've noticed these last several months that Rick Klein, ABC news senior political reporter, is all but a regular on her show. Indeed, he probably gets ten times the airtime on FOX that he gets on ABC. So, what's up with this?
I've also noticed recently several other ABC newspeople popping up on FOX.
Then today, on ABC's Sunday news talk show...who's on the panel..why..none other than Greta herself. Which is weird....sort of.
FOX NEWS is basically the GOP flagship..they expect to own..to dominate the convention coverage. Yet on the day before the convention starts..Greta doesn't have a show on FOX..yet she pops up on ABC. One assumes that Roger Ailes would have to give his blessing to one of his on-air stars paying a visit to the competition..especially as in most major TV markets, FOX News Sunday and the ABC show air at THE SAME TIME..
Hello???? anyone paying atention.
I should say that I happen to like Rick Klein. He's bright, well spoken, and plays it straight..no apparent bias. Indeed, ABC's daily political blog "the Note" which Klein often writes, has been accused by some on the left of having a "pro-Republican" slant. Horrors!!
There's been talk for years, as the big three network news organizations all but waste away, that CBS news and CNN might merge..but nothing ever came of it.( Though, given CNN's vanishing ratings, maybe it's CBS that should be taking over CNN?)
ABC lacks a cable news outlet, and surely is not about to start one now. Therefore a merger, or some time-sharing..news bureaus and on-air personalities??) makes a lot of sense to the beancounters.
Are we seeing the beginning of a working alliance ( for lack of a better term) between FOX NEWS and ABC news? And is it a good thing?
One would think that ANTHING than can drag one of the major networks closer to the political center has got to be good for the GOP, and for the country. Could we see ABC NEWS attempting to co-opt the center-right ( AKA the vast majority of the country) in a strategic attempt to gain an advantage among the thre big broadcast networks.
Given the announcement that ABC is pushing "Nightline" to 12:30 in the morning, AFTER Jimmy Kimmel, it's obvious that news doesn't mean that much to the suits at ABC. So why not then have ABC go out and link up with the leader in the news business..FNC?
Remember, Brit Hume came from ABC..so one assumes that he still has contacts there.
Could it be?
FYI...thoughts?
FOX needs to hire some real Conservatives and get rid of Greta, Mr. O, Hannity, Huckabee, Smith, Geraldo, Kelly, and all 5 of the 5.
If you are dumb enough to believe that FOXNews is all that much different from the rest....well,
welcome to your disappointment.
I’ve speculated that ABC might fold up it’s news division and partner with Fox News.
It would give FNC access to those who still rely on one of the “big 3” for their news and I’d say the vast majority of them would be new viewers, as most would be watching over-the-air, as FNC is on most basic cable tiers.
ABC would save a lot of cash and not really lose anything. And they’d gain credibility. And totally screw CNN!
Fox is extremely unlikely to take up your suggestion/advice so long as their ratings are holding up nicely and actually ascending.
By the way I like the 5 except Juan Williams who is always spouting DNC talking points. Beckel is fine with me because of his inside knowledge of running political campaigns. Juan’s knowledge is shallow and shows lack of knowing details on all issues.
I’ve turned off all “News” programs. I haven’t watched them in years.
It’s much easier on the ole ticker to read about them on FR.
I’ve already had one heart attack—don’t need another.......
Why stop there? Why not start your very own network. You have served good time since joining FR but maybe, just maybe, you are now past your ‘sell by’ date.
I’ve noticed that ABC is by far the more balanced of the alphabet nets. I noticed it first with Tapper, and he’s really been going out on a limb lately.
For instance, they were the only ones that covered the Family Research Shooting at all as a terrorist incident that barely escaped being a mass murder. I mean, the WaPo called it a “scuffle”. Talk about bias.
NBC and CBS, and of course CNN, are doubling down for the Dems.
Maybe ABC has some marketing intelligence, and sees a way to break from the pack. If they can overcome their inherent media bias, and be the first of the traditional nets to give conservatives a fair shake, it would be a brilliant strategy for them.
I don’t know about this, but somehow channel 5 (fox) and channel 9 (i forget) do some “sharing” on their local news, at least on the late night broadcast. Weather, sports, stuff like that.
It’s very strange, actually, but they do it.
I noticed it more recently on ABC as you said. You think it has changed a bit lately or has it been like you say for quite some time?
Also, I noticed some surprising interviews coming out of CNN lately especially with Wolf Bitzer. But then that British guy goes and reverses it all. LOL!
cBS seems to have lost a little of the bs in the last couple of weeks. Maybe just temporary.
NBC moves more left everyday.
Can’t recall the last time I watched any ABC “News” shows, so I’m not well versed on their personnel. But yes, the talent does move about among the nets. And “grooming” a move does make sense, so as to acclimatize the audience.
At a time when alternative media are already eroding the mainstreamers’ customer base, they are faced with a decision on Obama.
Perhaps the only thing they love more than Obama is the Democrat Party. Do they sense that the party could go down BECAUSE of Obama this November? Could they be beginning to realize that the 2010 thrashing was not a fluke? One more election like that and the Dem Party will have to completely reinvent itself.
It would not surprise me to see them turn on him, not by doing hit pieces, but by covering him with a less sycophantic tone. I think we’re already seeing that. As it becomes more apparent that he’s going down, we may see some amazing things, IMHO.
On 8-12 you posted this on a Wasserman-Schultz thread...
“When the Lefty speakers on Fox make such STUPID statements that INSULT the intelligence of the audience and the moderator lets them get away with it, I lose faith in Fox. It is no good ‘leaving it to the audience to draw their own inference.’ It is a waste of my time to watch this nonsense and increasingly I am turning off.
Man up Fox and tell these Lefty speakers that their lying idiocy won’t be tolerated.”
Maybe you forgot what you wrote.
