If Todd Akin is “done,” it’s only because our fellow Repubs tossed him under the bus within seconds of his screw up.
You almost NEVER see the Left do that to their wounded.
Yes, yesterday’s story of the democrat congressman who was arrested giving a 17 year old a BJ at a rest stop is already forgotten yet here we are after three or four days, still shrieking and rending our garments over Akin’s comments.
Akin’s stepped on the new 3rd rail of politics - no exception abortion. Republicans want the campaign to be about money - not social issues. Ryan backpedaled quickly from explaining what he meant by ‘forcible rape’. He has only able to repeat and repeat, like Obama, “rape is rape. The issue is not, what is rape, but what is a life. I hope more suitable talking points can be found.
“You almost NEVER see the Left do that to their wounded.”
They did it to Spitzer, they did it to Weiner, they did it to Torricelli.
The left is actually much more cutthroat about when they ditch someone. There is no talk of “but he is a good guy”, or “what about his ACLU ratings.”
That’s because the left actually wants to win. Republicans think they are in a debate club and the left knows this is a street fight. Anybody who’s a liability is kicked off the curb.
More like 13 ---- not 22.
The July 30th Rasmussen poll had him up by 47 to 44.
That's reason enough for him to get out.
Of course not! It’ll get worse. With the way the left is going after this guy and considering that Obama Claire has yet to begin campaigning and the overall stupidity of what he said, Akin will be lucky if he pulls over 35% when all is said and done.
Do you think the issue of Akin will go away, if he leaves?
I say it wont.
The dem mantra is going to be whether he is there or not: see the Republicans are just as we said they were.
I would actually like ‘so called’ Republicans leaders stand up and say “yea, he missed spoke he apologized, next question. We are here to talk about the economy.”
I can’t remember the democrats ever ditching one of their own for offering an opinion.
This is total nonsense. Karl Rove is a moron, as well as a RINO, who just loves to pick losers.
If Akin is down at the moment, it’s because absolutely everyone has been stomping on him, from one end of the spectrum to another. No one has been standing up for him, or pointing out that he has been hammered by the same left-wing media hounds who almost destroyed Rush Limbaugh for calling what’s-her-name a slut. Well, she was a slut, who wanted the taxpayers to pay for all her contraceptives so she could enjoy endless sex without cost or consequences. Evidently Rush didn’t want to go through the same kind of hammering twice, so he backed off this time.
If Akin is down, it’s because absolutely NO ONE is out there defending him, as he should be defended.
you may have made a correction you like but it is delusional
Obviously you have no clue what you are talking about. Missouri is a 'swing' state. Do you understand what that means. Apparently NOT, so I will explain. The state has about equal parts liberals, conservative/republicans and independents. NOW after this episode of foot in mouth who do you think those independents are going to vote for?
Rightly or wrongly this is reality.... Have you ever seen those independents that Frank Luntz rounds up to monitor their 'heart' rates.... Independents recoil at ridicule and they race as fast as they can to the perceive safe politician.... ARE YOU GETTING the reality of Missouri elections?
What self-righteous Akin did was spook those shaking in the wind independents.... ARE you getting it yet.... without the independents there are NOT enough conservative/republicans in this state to defeat Claire.... H E L L O!!!! Pray for a miracle and stop blaming everybody but AKIN he and he alone made this mess. GOT IT YET!!!!
If my math is mistaken- so be it- these are the numbers I heard Rove and Hannity mention on the radio while I was driving home from work. The math was based on his being up 10 and now down roughly 10..equalling 20 odd points.
Still- being down even 10 is appalling given that he was going to take this seat from the detestable Claire.
I understand we have a good many FReepers who support him and believe he’s right to stick it out. I agree to disagree.
what Akin said was factually wrong AND way beyond stupid. You don’t give ammo to your enemies. Moreover, McCaskill and her PAC supported him in the primary by running ads against his other opponents. He should have been content in the house where he could hide and collect his largesse
Why is not the point, the point is that for the democrats the moment you’re a political liability, for whatever reason, you’re out. They don’t wait and they don’t mess around. Because they want to win.
That is a huge drop! If the man doesn’t drop out he is even more delusionally sick than we imagined.
Huckleberry is getting paid off by Soros inc. to screw our side. As Rush says...’don’t doubt me’....lol. He now has a track record of screwing up our nominations and elections. I have never forgiven him for giving us McCain. Can’t stand his patronizing, fake goodie goodie bipartisan crap!! Sorry for the rant.
meaning he cannot recover from the leftist attacks from his own party?
I hate the GOPe
I hope you’re not being serious.
The sad thing is that all these true believers are going to act surprised when they get exactly what they’re pushing for. Its like the DU around here lately.
