I worked for a long time to 'gently' convince a democrat family friend that voting republican was in her best interest in 2010. She converted and subsequently brought her two daughters aboard. That's 3 new voters just from me.
My Dad did something of the same thing with his sister and her friends in 2004 election! He started working with her by having her read some articles on the internet about Kerry and some of the things he said and did. At first she wondered if he was going to vote for Kerry, because of him being a veteran like my Dad was. She wondered why he wouldn’t!
My Dad used to be an old “Southern Democrat”, and voted accordingly. Over the years, he became disenchanted with the party, and started voting Republican most of the time. He said that many people in the South were still Democrat, even though many were in name only now. He said they’ve been like that for years and years, and the mind-set is hard to get out of.
Nevertheless, he got her to read stories and articles about Kerry and liberal Democrats; it worked, and she voted for George Bush/Dick Cheney that year! She simply was not terribly political, and had not thought much of what some of the Democrats in leadership were up to. She and her friends may not have completely converted over, but they didn’t vote Democrat nationally that year, if at all!
Winning is a one step at a time process.
Nobama is having a very tough time getting his 95% voter block to even consider voting in 12. The Yut vote continues to jump the Hopey Changey ship and now there is a growing group of renegade MSM turning on him. Failing is the accumulation of bad steps.
