OK I love this show
It is the ONLY show I have watched ON PURPOSE in years (the first episodes of House and early My Name is Earl were up there too)
I loved how Mr White was the nerdy geek in over his head, dumb-lucking his way out of terrible situations in often hilarious ways
But this weeks episode when [SPOILER ALERT] they shot that kid [END SPOILER ALERT] I see no way of getting out of and still making good TV out of it. MY only hope is that the kids wasn't shot, he just passed out. I could see them sending him home with some ice cream being kind of funny
I also am not sure if Walter poisoned that kid of the girlo Jesse was dating or not (I think so, since he hid a dummy poison vile for Jesse to find on purpose)
But he is a getting to be a not-so-sympathic hero anymore...
I could see him killing the chicken guy- and running over the drug dealers jesse was going after, and also exploding the chrystal at the dealers location in one of the early shows...
But now he is hurting innocent kids? and feeling no remorse?
The shows popularity used to be its funny/quirkiness... now it is too much like a soap-opera drama
Hank is a great actor- and I have the major hots for his wife since the 'hospital scene'
but Walter is not as likeable and his wife is getting whiny-bitchy
This week was sorta good up until the ending
Or is there not enough interest in this show to have a discussion thread?
DISH dropped AMC.
This season seems a little contrived, however. There is so much hype surrounding BB now, maybe too much.
I missed this weeks episode but I heard the other bald older guy is really getting kill happy. I can see that coming to a head pretty soon.
As far as Walt’s change, that’s part of the fun of the series, seeing the change in his character and what will eventually happen to him.
My prediction for the finale of BB is that Jesse kills Walter White. But who knows?
Another big fan here. I don’t think any other show can top BB’s season 2 ending!!
The whole point of the series is to watch Walt go from an average guy for whom ones feel sympathetic into someone who is totally evil, but will lose in the end due to his swelled ego and pride.
Killing the kid fits right in to what Walt has become. The only person who is still half-way human on the show is Jesse. I think that the kid’s murder was put in to show contrast Jesse’s humanity to the lack of humanity that Walt has.
My husband and I joke that Walt’s body count is higher than that of Dexter (the Showtime serial killer show)
Not a viewer of the show, but I did happen across an article that said, since this is the final season, the producers of the show are going for the jugular, so to speak.
You can watch the first seasons on Netflix now (yay!)
they are fun to review
By now Walt is very much an anti-hero. The business has sucked all the reedeeming qualities right out of him. We are watching the downward spiral to the inevitable conclusion. I'd stop if it wasn't so compelling.
As to the kid, the new guy did it, and it shocked Walt and Jesse IIRC.
I love this show. Have not seen this episode yet. Yes, Walt poisoned the kid. The point is that even good people can be corrupted by power and money. They have dome an outstanding job of showing that. This is the last season. I am sure we are going to see all th consequences of Walt White’s decisions in living color.
Sounds like you are watching the 2011 episodes.
OMG!! this is goign to be the final season????
that’s terrible
If they are out of ideas they can call me- I used to know people like this
Agree. Jesse will kill Walt, and yes Walt did poison the boy in season four.
What will be interesting is how Walt, Jesse and Mike now deal with Todd, the guy who shot the kid on the motorcycle. I think they are going to have to kill Todd very quickly.
This show is brilliant. Best since The Wire.
I was surprised to find out that only one year of real time has passed from season one to where the show is now. That’s a lot of stuff to happen in just 12 months.
I just got interested at the end of last season so over the summer my husband got the entire season on Netflix so we could watch it from the beginning (the only way to watch it IMHO)
We watched 2-3 episodes a night except for a few that were just too intense, then we watched only 1. Didn't take long to get caught up.
You can watch all episodes through 2011 on netflix.
watch and re-watch, and no commercials.
Cable and satellite are unnecessary expenses.....
The minute Walt started cooking meth in the 1st season his fate was sealed. It was always going to be about his descent into evil and him having to pay the consequences.
I think that no one is going to survive, but who knows. I HATE that they are splitting this final season between this year and net year. Why not just call it was it is, two shorter seasons!!
I thought it was a little out of character for one of the exterminator/b&e guys to just go ahead and shoot the kid with out getting the nod from from one of the meth crew first. I hope they ‘leave him in the desert’ but I think next week’s preview showed them fighting about him or something. I liked Bill Burr as the hapless truck driver. How did they know where the train would stop?
Up until this episode the season started out slow, but so have some of the great seasons as well.
