There were 3 versions of Maltese Falcon made in 10 years, the 1931 and 1941 (Bogie) versions were both called Maltese Falcon, Satan Met a Lady was done in 1936. Hollywood has always loved remakes.
I’ve got some truly great films made in the last 10 years, they just tend not to be the tent poles you have to go find them. Though even some of the tent poles, Hunger Games is a DAMN good movie. But really for story telling this is the age of TV, owing to their ability to use many more hours, and finally their willingness to really USE the hours they have available, the depth of story telling on TV is leagues above even the great movies.
